Hey guys i have a problem, im buying a game from a pal and he has lost his cd key. He currently has the game installed, does anyone know where i can find it? The game is tiger woods 2008. Ps... It is the original copy but somehow the cd-key is not in the case anymore. If anybody needs proof that its original, i will try and provide some, even though he is 100 miles away.

Download a free trial of Everest Ultimate Edition, navigate to the following list. If you're lucky, the key should be listed there:

I know Everest can do it. It's under Software, Licenses.

um, this is not a warez forum. No disrespect , but " Where can i find a cd key "?
Were you looking for a proper answer lol. We all know where to get them , i do anyway, but we can't tell you.

Where are the serial location on new games these days anyway, on the manual or inside the box somewhere? I know with alot of my older games, they are listed right on the front of the box or back of the box lol.

Did you ask your friend to see where it might be? Maybe he misplaced it.

I think it logs all the serials. Any program that is install on your computer that requires a serial , they log it. So it should be listed there, if your friend did not do a clean install.

EA puts it in the registry. I'll get the full path...

    64-bit would be something like:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Sports\Tiger Woods 2008\ergc

    OR

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Tiger Woods 2008\ergc
    32-bit would be something like:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Sports\Tiger Woods 2008\ergc

    OR

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Tiger Woods 2008\ergc

If you just keep searching for "ergc", it should eventually find it.

I don't have the game so those probably aren't 100% accurate but once you get to the Electronic Arts key, it should be in there somewhere. EA has been putting keys there since at least 2002, probably as far back as 1999/2000.

As I said in my first post, searching for "ergc" (Electronic Registration Game Code) and you should eventually find it.

I don't think they ever include hyphens.

    Good luck!

We didnt find it in the registry. The tiger woods 2008 ergc isn't there. 2006 is there but not 08. Another folder even points to that folder but its just missing. And the game is still running!

Most games don't use the key for anything except decompressing the executable(s) and for registration. It may have gotten deleted but it may also be in a non-traditional location. The best places to look are in the program files directory, C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\ and C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data

There's a very good chance it will be in one of those three. If it isn't, then I have to assume the installer doesn't save the key anywhere after it is done with it. :(

Or you could go buy TW08 for like $9.99 on Amazon. This way you know you get the key.

Key is written on top in the back of the users manual. No manual = no key.

FordGT is correct because mine is there.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\ergc]

there has got to be a program, where you can override any CD key with a made up CD key, kinda like a CD key cracker, lol.
