I need to RMA my NZXT Hale 90 850W.
Three and a half years have passed and my local supplier only covers two years. However he told me that he'd do it as long as I pay for shipping since NZXT cover it for 5 years but that I needed to forward him the date of purchase and the serial number.

Finding the date of purchase was no problem but I can't see the serial number anywhere on the PSU.
Where could it be and what can I do? (And is this normal? It's the first time I haven't seen a serial number on a pc part).

I think it might be on the box as well? Or did you toss the box?

I threw away the box a couple of months ago, kept all the manuals and everything but there's nothing there.
But shouldn't a serial number be indelibly printed on the item?

Yeah normally it should.

Edit: It should be there:

With the fan facing down, the serial number should be on a bar code sticker to the left of the sticker with all the PSU specs on it.

You can see the sticker in this picture:

Unless you've got a Hale90 V2 with the spec sticker on the top of the unit. In that case the serial number is right below the spec sticker. Like this:

but it applies to the 850w as well

Hmm, it appears that the serial of the 850 watt is at a different side, the pic I posted comes from the NZXT website.

Sorry, edited my post. The V1 had the sticker were I said at first, the V2 moves it to the top.

Sometimes you can find it on the invoice.

Best guess? It fell off at some point. They stick those spec stickers on with some kind of super-glue, but the s/n stickers sometimes just fall off if you look at them wrong.

I'd try contacting NZXT directly(you're paying to ship it back to them anyway). Tell them the sticker is missing, but you have your original invoice. I wouldn't be surprised if they replace it anyway.

Oh wow.

I was so sure it couldn't have just fallen away without me noticing or finding it in my case, that I decided to look at my build thread (gray link in my signature) since I had taken a lot of photos there was bound to be one of the PSU ''without'' the serial number.......

And voila' .... Thanks mate!

I'm unsure of the first character though, is it an S, an 8 or a 5?

Since there is a 54 at the end, you can see it is not the same as the first character. So I say your SN is: S1112009154.

Haha I still can't come to terms on how I lost the serial number. Hadn't I had saved photos I wouldn't even be believing myself! Probably the sticker curled into some unidentifiable ball inside my case during the early days after finishing my build, and I threw it away without checking what it was.

Yes, now you point it out it's definitely not a 5. Must be either an S or an 8, and I'm going with S.

Thank you everyone so far :) Now I only need to hope that the overseas shipping expenses won't be prohibitive, otherwise I'd have no choice but to let it be and just buy a new PSU.
