Ive had a look at reviews for 5x ati cards but im wondering which would you guys buy if you had my rig to best complement it? Id like to play new and upcoming games that are dx11 enabled maxed out, AA is of no concern to me by the way, and getting at least 30 fps. My monitor cpu and all other components wont change. Im thinking of the 5850 purely for the fact i had the same card in the 4 series family and it performed great but maybe a less powerful card will still get me great performance considering the rest of my rig? Whats your thoughts guys?

4850, me thinks.

I own a 5870 and I love it, but people are raving about the 5850. Reference 5850's are overclocking beasts from what I've read.

Of course the 5870 is also a beast and there are a few of each up for grabs for great prices in the B/S/T section of the forum. Check em out.

I think he's comparing 4850 = 5850 (Mid line 4 series to mid line 5 series).

I thought so too, didn't wanna assume XD

I'm gonna say for 1680x1050 gaming... 5770 OR 5830

unless you're rich, then get the 5850 :]
or go back a generation and get a HD 4890 (not worth it IMO) or crossfire 4850s if you can

5770 is a good choice, 5830 is over priced IMO and 5850 is sweet especially if you can get a reference design

5850 no doubt.

5770 is good, but not that good if you wanna play new DX11 games, trust me, it needs some MOAR POWAR:D

thanks and i was comparing the 5850 and 4850 as they are the same within the family if that makes sense. Thing is i aint rich at all and i would be saving for a while for any card but i thought i didnt want to get too much power then needed otherwise it would be money wasted but i dont want to get a card that carn't cut it and keep the fps to what im used too for the new games to be released as then again i would feel it was money wasted. Im getting two strong options then the 5770 or the 5850. Would i have to lower my standards a little with the 5770 do you think?
