I built my nephew a system & now found out he will be using AutoCAD. I have an AMD 4170 quad core @ 4.2Ghz in it now or I can drop in an AMD 1090t six core @ 3.2Ghz. The rig has 16gb of ram, and an AMD 7850. Which CPU would AutoCAD benefit the most from? I'm not overclocking either.

I'd think the Phenom II X6 1090T would be faster in that multi threaded environment.

I'd look into the Piledriver FX 6300 6-core or Piledriver FX 8350 8-core. Otherwise the 1090T is fine is you've got it laying around already.

Yea I would have said either the FX 6300 6-core or Piledriver FX 8350 8-core as well.

+1 for them! ;)
