Which monitor to choose

Hey guys.

I will be heading off the PC World today and will be buying 1 of the 2 that have grown on me. Please tell me which one would be better for gaming!

Also..in PC world they are both the same price..and both are samsung..yet they look different..are they actualy the same monitor!!

prob both have the same lcd pannel inside ....FYI if you can check the one you are getting before you pay I have been seeing a lot of sam's with 1 or 2 bad pixels latly and they[samsung] won't do anything about it unless it's 10 or more!!

Yea ive heard of that! But I also heard that its clearing up now

I just checked a little more..The Pebble version is 3000:1/1000:1 and the other one is 3000:1/700:1.

I am going for the Pebble by the looks of things

WHich ones would you like me to compare for you again Irish?

EDIT: I compared all three, 2232BW has 2ms and not as good contrast ratio. But the 2232BWX doesn't have as good response time but still good enough not to ghost any images.

If the 2232BWX is cheaper get it, barely any noticeable differences.

Samsung 226BW.

It's great but you have to have the Desktop resolution at 1600x(insert the large number that I don't remember here)

Really is a tough decision Irish. Have you priced any of them yet? I know my 932BW 19" was @ Best Buy for $209USD(about 144 euros)

Well the first 2 I posted up top are the very same price at 350Euros. Ive no idea what the price is the for the other one! I dont beleave my local store has it anyway...hmm..I guess it looks like ill be buying the Pebel

Look at the difference in weight alone between the two. Heavier is better!

samsung have a 0 dead pixel warranty. i have the 226BW listed, great screen - but it definately has a 0 dead pixel warranty.

the 2232BW is the newer model, and has greater contrast (1000:1 vs 700:1) you can ignore the 3000 number, thats dynamic contrast and tends to look pretty bad for moving images.

the 2232BW also has a greater viewing angle and uses less power.

I don't know what the price is in Europe, but I got my 226bw from Zipzoomfly for $220. It has no bad pixels and the image quality is simply stunning. The dynamic contrast ratio really helps.

dynamic contrast depends on the person - some things it looks great, others it looks horrible. I prefer consistent quality, so i dont use it.

That said - try it. see for yourself.

I checked in PC World today and both of the monitors were side by side and both had this graphical thingy....it had fish swimming! it looks really pretty

Anyway..The 2232BW looked better..it looked a bit darker and looked good in brighter areas..where as the other one seemed to lack the overall picture quality. The dark colours were a bit off and looked horrible compared to the 2232BW! I guess thats where the 1000:1 contrast ratio kicks in compared to the 700:1!

Anyway..I have made my mind up I beleave! 2232BW Pebble is the one for me! thanks for the advice lads!

i own the 226BW, and it IS an older screen. Dynamic contrast looks bad on this, it may have been optimised on the new one. If you Have Dyn Con off, the blacks are a lot blacker on this model - but get the new one anyway.
