Hello everyone,
I need to assemble a new PC which will be used in a computer science lab and must be capable of smoothly running 4 virtual machines with at least 4 gigabytes of ram each.
I chose Intel 4790K as the Cpu,
A Green Power supply unit (700 wattage)
A 1 terabyte Western Digital Blue Caviar HardDrive
No Graphics card since I don't need one, (I guess the integrated one would suffice just fine).

Now I need to get a decent Motherboard, I have searched and came up with couple of mother boards
I have no idea which one is better (feel free to suggest better ones if you know , but I would be grateful if you say your idea on the models provided here, since I might not be able to get(find) your suggested model here, and in that case I am left with what I have at the moment.)

Anyway these are the motherboards :
ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1
ASUS - SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 2
ASUS - MAXIMUS VII HERO
ASUS - MAXIMUS VII RANGER
ASUS - Z97-DELUXE
ASUS - MAXIMUS VI EXTREME
ASUS - Z97-DELUXE(NFC & WLC)

Note:
Please note that my budget for mother board is limited to 400$ at most .

Thanks in advance

get Deluxe or Mark 2 if you don't need /want gimmicks. They are all the same basicly.
Mark 1 (mine) has 2 ethernet ports, may be usefull!

How come you only want ASUS? Gigabyte and MSI have very good boards to choose from too.

I like asus better, i have always been using asus, but I am ok with other boards such as Gigabyte and MSI, just don't know their products very well.
If you know some of their best products in this range, I would be grateful to know as well, after all I am not a fan boy! which ever is better I'll choose that :)

I used Asus for years and after my 2nd Maximus Formula V took a dump I bought an MSI Gaming 7. I'm completely happy with the choice I made. No issues, the bios is great and easy to navigate and it clocks like a champ! :D Plus, it was pretty darn inexpensive compared to Asus and Gigabyte.

AsRock Extreme4 or Extreme6 might be worth looking at. Usually decent prices and really solid boards.

Also, if these 4 virtual machines are going to actually see use, which I assume they will since you want them to have 4GB of dedicated RAM, you are going to want more than a single WD Blue drive.

I dont like asus so much, but accordingthe given options i may say:
  • ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1
  • ASUS - SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 2
those are the unique boards i will buy from asus if i had the need of a asus board,

How come you only want ASUS? Gigabyte and MSI have very good boards to choose from too.

Ultra Agreed, there are several options, Gigabyte is always my option #1 on motherboards and Graphics cards, but i have to recognize that Asrock and MSI have solid boards, quality, long lasting and also nice looking models, look for another option, let us know,

I'd look at something other than Asus, as their service is horrible. The only parts I've replaced due to failures in the past ten years other than a few lil things have been Asus parts, fwiw... They don't honor warranties either.

Probably the Asus Z97A. Has all the features you need and isn't dreadfully overpriced. Kinda stopped buying the crazy expensive motherboards after my last V Formula, just isn't necessary, especially when you're not doing mad custom water cooling.

Either that or the Z97 board @Tatty_One is using. Top quality board, crazy good pricing. Dave did a review and thought it was basically amazing. Not a fan of the MSI bios on my gaming board.

Lol no. Have fun with that opinion because the ASUS board I had died after three months of running stock.

well I like several brands, I have used also several brands, for years I have chosen several gigabyte motherboards, video cards, and more, I have just one thing to tell… Best boards so far, I'm my humble opinion Gigabyte Is like motherboard manufacturer King, also I like pretty much Asrock and MSI, solid board makers,

Asus have give me so much troubles in the past, at the moment I just own 1 motherboard on 1 amd rig, we will se how is this board doing, seems to be pretty solid but just the time will allow me to find out how it will perform, also I have seen that most of the expensive Asus boards are the ones that fail, simple boards are solid enough,
