oops, DDR3 is what it was, Id suggest selling the DDR2 and goin DDR3 now unless if you want a 790FX/GX/X or 785 or 770 Motherboard
DDR2 is/will soon be overpriced so DDR3 would be a good idea. For a few bucks more, it would be better to get the newer 880/890 boards

I run a Asus M4A78-E and a 1090T. It takes me 1.47v to run 3.9Ghz stable. Whats funny is at default the chip draws 1.47v at 3.2Ghz. Weird and sad at the same time.
Strange. My 1055t does 3.73GHz at 1.3v. Ever tried undervolting?

Well, I've been staring at Newegg listings all day - off and on. So right now the MSI board is looking good - unless someone can talk me down.

Probably, but maybe I'm just lucky with Gigabyte and my 1055t

My 785gt-e63 died on me just recently. After 1 month away from my pc, it just turns on, lights up, but no response from video (onboard and add on) or keyboard. Moved some parts to my current build and they work fine.

I can attest that MSI boards suck. But um I am sure some will disagree.

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but I can't say i have a lot of confidence.

I'll check some other places for the xhair II, but aside from that, which AM3/DDR2 board would you pick as runner up?

OK, believe it not, this is the only board Newegg has that i can be sure supports X6 AND will run 1066 memory on an AM3 chip.

MSI 790XT-G45 AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Mother...

Most of the boards will only run it on AM2+. The ones that clearly say they can do 1066, don't support X6.

There are a couple of Jetway boards where you can't really tell and none of those seem to have any support material on the web site.

So, that's it. I'm done. I've got one 'for sure' choice and that's what I'm going with - for better or worse - we shall see.

Thanks to everyone for their input and critiques. It's appreciated.

Robin.
