the psu i was relating to was the corsair 800W quad rail, forget which model.
18 amps per rail.
relised this when my 4870x2 fried a rail, it draws 23amps - load.
oooops

using a silverstone 1000W single rail, i do not have much luck with psu fans replaced this fan also..

I personally am not a fan of OCZ products, but thats just based off of what I've heard from people.

I personally also like Multi Rail's just seems safer to have all the power spread out, but of course with my psu its a LE that has loads of AMP's.

a lot of "multi-rail" psus especially the ones in the sub 75 dollar price bracket are not really Multi rail at all there basicly single rail psu's with a current divider and a cheap bus fuse
and so long the PSU is a QUALITY model Multi-rail is indeed better for ALL cases including overclocking

Big fan of single but powerful +12v rail PSUs myself. I usually get power hungry vid cards, my HD6990 uses dual 8 pin PCIe power connectors and I don't trust multi rail PSUs to provide enough juice on the rails. The card is being powered by my old yet trusty Silverstone OP1000 which I had gotten way back when it was first reviewed by the founder of jonnyguru (OP1000 vs PC P&C 1000W shootout). That was about 5 years or so back, and this unit is still going strong. I have two >1kW single +12v rail PSUs in my main and 2nd rigs, with a Seasonic 850W PSU on standby should any of them go bad.

@OP, your current OCZ Fatality 550W PSU should be sufficient for that setup, only on the condition that that unit isn't ancient (like my OP1000) but is quite recent.

I am not pro in psu but i know that i always get single rail psu. Even my cheapo brand 420W has theorically 22 amps on 12v and its enough for all my rig.
