One reason to buy the console of your choice now? So you don't have to later when that awesome game releases that makes it worth the purchase price to get into a PS4 or Xbone.
So far i have three games for my PS4 and I'm pretty happy. AC4: Black Flag is awesome on the PS4. That game alone will have me spending hours and hours with my PS.

The UI is not bad at all and tbh it's much nicer than the PS3 UI.

I'm tempted to flog one of my 360's and one of my PS3's now that I doubt I'll ever touch them again. I have around 60 ps3/360 games I should sell too. (That still leaves me with a single 360/ps3 as well) For those nights when i want to play an old game.

PS3 still has few more games coming. Namely Drakengard 3 and FF 10, 10-2 remake.

I never liked AC, so no reason for me to buy the new gen console right now.

I have a question guys.

Is Xbone compatible with Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 games.

And is PS4 compatible with PS3 and PS2 games.

Google is giving me conflicting answers.

No. neither system supports games from the previous generations.

That said Sony does release many of these games via digitial download and at a cost. Not much in the PSN store for the ps4 yet but it will come. They promise PS3 titles this way to be played on PS4.

You could hook your Xbox 360 into the Xbox One using an HDMI cable... Then, technically you would be playing 360 games on a One.

Will the games be free via digital download if you're already registered your PS3 version of the game.

Without backward compatibility the appeal of owning a next generation console has dissipated.

although I DO agree with that statement, I would make the SAME decision , but for a different reason. Why spend $400-$500 or whatever they cost, for hardware that IF put into a PC would yield a Low end gaming machine @ BEST? Basically You would be paying for the access to the "console Only" titles, and the AIO "convenience" , which is REALLY only suitable for Children, and people who don't game too much, In which case I'd say, Why buy the machine @ all then? No matter how You look @ it, access is the ONLY justifiable reason to buy a console , when a PC counterpart yield's FAR better performance/value.Unless throwing cash down the drain interests You , Buy a PC.

The reason I buy consoles is simple.

I want to play games. And limiting myself to PC limits the horizon severely. It's as simple as that.

I like to call myself a hardcore gamer but I am one who cares little about graphics. I just want to play wide variety of games.

As it stands now, each console I purchased had games I wanted. They aren't many and money spent on consoles are probably not justifiable for average Joe, but I wanted to play those games.

On paper the ps4 looks better but feature wise the xbone looks better. Sony won't be dumb, they listened to us (sorta) about the ps4. I'm about to get rid of my ps4 though until games actually come out. PM if interested.

Well for one; Devs don't have to code a game for the PS4 to work on a gazillion different PC specs around the world. They can focus on one set of specs and take full advantage of the hardware...and later even push further. The end result? A game that looks damn good and performs to boot. Some of these same games might not even play as good on some high end PC's. (fault of the coder though)

Consoles also get games that are never released on other systems. Naughty Dog is one of my favorite game companies. Their games only release on the Sony consoles. If I was 'stuck' to using just a PC then I'd have missed out on some of the very best games I have ever played.

(what's this 'children' shit about anyway?) Looking at your PC specs I have to say that its about as midrange as one can get. Mine isn't much better. Mine is no way a high end gaming rig. It was a few years ago when I built it but not by todays standards. I'm actually due for a new build I guess but there aren't any PC games that I play that push my rig too much. I can still play all the games that I own on High and ultra settings (mix). In fact my PC has been so good that I might just buy a new high end video card instead.

Back on topic...
And I think you are forgetting something; some of us buy these consoles AND have gaming rig(s). If I wanted to I could build a new gaming rig today. I have more than enough money in my accounts. I choose to run my PC's about three years between builds with a few upgrades in between. I also choose to buy consoles for those games that I can only get on a console and for those games I enjoy that suck playing on a PC like Madden. Of course i could hook up my 360 wired controller to my pc and play sports games but the problem is some never release on PC such as Madden.

There are so many reasons to play games on both consoles AND pc.

I consider myself a serious gamer. I game every day and been doing so for many many many years. I spends thousands of dollars each year on this hobby. Why should I limit myself to one platform?

Why would you get rid of it...just to buy it later? I mean if you don't have the money then I understand but then again why buy it in the first place. we all knew the lack of games there would be at release.

Hey guys, looking at the votes, you all prefer the PS4 in droves over the Xbone and it looks like the general public agree with you!

The Xbone hasn't even reached the week one sales of the PS3. Check it out here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/11/25/xbox_one_fails_top_top_ps3_weekone_sales/

That only applies to the UK, remember a good number of the features for the Xbox One only work in the United States, and that is where they focused their attention--last I had heard they had just barely sold less than PS4 (just over 1m to PS4's 1.1-1.2m). Granted the PS4 has only launched in North America so far.

For any console my advice would be to get the one your friends are playing, unless there are exclusive titles you want to play on a particular console and you're only going to buy one.

I'd prefer PS4, but my friends chose Xbox. so I'll probably roll Xbox.

Consoles have good titles as well.. Broke out of that "Console Peasant, pc gamer elitist" mindset. After a decade of pure PC gaming, I bought me a PS3 recently, and I am enjoying Dragon's Dogma, Red Dead Redemption, and other PS3 exclusive titles.. Graphics no doubt is washed out and low res (most of them just run in 720p) but it is the gameplay that makes a game and not the graphics. Going to get a PS4 once the "slim" version comes out.

Agreed. Whether you've got a console or a PC, doesn't make one person "better" than the other. This is in the same way as being richer, or more intelligent or more skilled than someone else etc doesn't make that person "better", either. It's just snobbery.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
voted neither because, i owned many consoles Neo Geo/CD Genesis/CD32 Saturn Dreamcast PS PS2 PS2 slims Xbox Xbox 360(no ring of death for any revision i got since the original one, RROD fabled myth? ;) (joking)) and for all of them the games determined my initial buy (the PS3 didn't had anything interesting for me)

im mostly a collector, i still have some of thoses consoles working, but my main gaming platform is PC (with emulator i don't need anymore my PS2 and previous gen :D) heck even my psp is no more than a piece of tech on a shelf (PPSSPP androide replaced it)

as far as i see now the PS4 will have some of my favorites franchise and the Xbox One seemingly will have a Halo Ep... since both of them are proficient at : not being able to be better than the other one (face the truth the PS4 is more powerfull on paper but paper doesnt't decide ... it just burn  ) it will all depend on the game

i love the pseudo war about PS4 ROXX, XBOX ONE ruleezz, each side are more ridiculous than the other. why be a fanboy amd siding for one when you can be smart and wait, i'm only speaking of people that wait hours outside a shop for a "Day one first hour" buy ;)

luckily we are on TPU

pc gaming is still strong wether it be retro or modern and nope not all games are port of console quality (shall we shorten : gaming pc for gaming, console for multimedia entertainment in the living room game or not, even if a pc can do it too (mostly better tho ...) there is a market for both, let's get.... not along ... and fight with guns to death to see who's the best! oh ... woops nono don't mind i got overboard ;) cheers !

now that i think of it PS4 and Xbox One will have no place, in some way... i got console before: because PC where to expensive to get a serious gaming one... now i don't have that burden anymore, maybe for Halo and some J-games/rpg on PS4 .... who knows ...

ahah i noticed that :

will be a PS4 game (beta and open beta actually on PC) woohoo i just hope they will not Downgrade the PC client for the sake of compatibility to a console :D or just separate the two build and gamer pool if they do so :D (sidenote the graphic engine is not too complex it seems so console no worries  )

Why would you get rid of it...just to buy it later? I mean if you don't have the money then I understand but then again why buy it in the first place. we all knew the lack of games there would be at release.

I kind of need the money. I could get by but there are also things I need to take care of, it's an unnecessary expense anyway. It's also lacking basic features like DLNA, come on sony... come on.

Thats a sound decision then. And right now there really isn't any reason to own a new console except to want something new.

Exactly, it's a want. I play 95% on my PC anyway, last 5-6 games where on my PC and with the xbone/ps4 being x86, it should be easier for devs to port to PC. Most games port with the default controllers mapped anyway and i've got the Ps3 dualshock3 working with the pc as well as the 360's. It's a win win for me either way.

I want consoles to just play games. I want nothing more.

I am buying neither PS4 nor X1 atm.

I don't want to understand how dedicated gamers refuse to play more games and stick to one platform. Though I think I am a unique case. I just don't like FPS and carter myself to RPGs, and simulation games. PC got not enough RPG, so I have to rely on consoles. And consoles have no good simulation games.
