After EK announced thier naked Ivy Bridge W/C solution: http://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-supremacy-precisemount-add-on-naked-ivy.html , I looked at my Koolance block and think it's quite do-able. I just have to verify the threads on the screw posts go down far enough.

Based on my de-lid experience, the lid is about 3-4mm thick, so that's the amount the waterblock would need to drop if I take the lid and the top of the cpu retainer off.

Looking for pointers if anyone here has done it.

Haven't mounted bare die, don't have a block yet, but will have one soon.

I have the Supremecy block and one of these kits on order with a local shop, will have to wait for them to get it, might be a couple of weeks before I get a chance to play with mine.

Pretty sure that Sonda5 is also running without IHS, and direct-die.

That is a crap shoot. The posts would be in the same location, but the threads and retainer nuts may or may not work... someone whould have to test it.
