Who's going to buy Elder Scrolls Online now that they've ditched monthly subscription?

I couldn't wait much longer, in fact I just received my diskettes (there's 4 of them) in the mail today. Managed to get it for less than half the price it is on Steam from Amazon.
The subscription will be ditched on 17th of March but till then I've got 30 days free play, then either I don't play till it's free or I might pay for one month.

I've installed the game from the diskettes yet it's downloading like crazy...
12GB to download, it shows that there remains 7GB more but it says only 2% done so far! At this rate downloading at 2Mbps it might be some couple of days before I manage to start playing..

Anyway, who's thinking of getting this game now?

The diskettes typically contain a 5-10mb file which tells the game where to download from :laugh:

same with Guild Wars. The Disks are entirely pointless, and become irrelevant as soon as a patch releases!

It's downloading another 20GB patch! Actually nearly finished downloading it... and still only 14% done!

I'm seriously thinking I'm going to run out of disk space :twitch:

Edit: strange, the size of the Zenimax folder was 45GB now it's dropped to 35GB..

Now another 6GB patch...

... and now it's going really fast, apparently each patch contributes 1% towards the installation, irrespective of whether the patch is 6GB or 6MB..

It downloads the patch to the game install location, extracts the data, and then deletes the downloaded files. Happens with a lot of mmo patches.

I might get it once its free...........If they have a decent sale on it. Played the beta and it was okay. I have heard mixed reviews on the game though.
It makes me wonder just how long the game will be supported before the servers get shut down. I guess it will depend on the popularity of the game in the near future.

I actually went to look and see how cheaply I could get away for a license, but just couldn't bring myself to spend it... I disliked the game so much, that I didn't participate in the final beta I was invited to (which was right before release): why would I think that paying for a game that I didn't like to begin with would make it any better? Oh well. Keep us updated, @Black Panther , and let us know how you enjoy it

Will try it out again because I bought it back during the release. Got Standard Edition on sale ($45), which is why I think my take on ESO is a little more tame vs people that spent full price on the Imperial Edition ($80?) and feel really let down or rageful.

The PvP is pretty good in small doses, so that's the primary reason for me. If max level hasn't raised too much I'll still be viable as VR3.

I hated the beta but after release I eventually was bored so I bought the game. I really liked it compared to the beta which I pretty much hated. Great game but after awhile I got side tracked with other games and never went back.

I didn't really take note but IIRC it should be around 25 or 30 GB total.

Downloaded it took quite a time, game feels very good i like it so far. got some nice pet still need to find mount

Paid the game, but I saw it a christmas, imperial at 30 or 40$... but paid full price for my stupidity, I knew it was to go Buy 2 Play. So I am playing right now, and I must say, that I have alot of fun. it is not easy, I always see people near me, alot of quest and stuff to do. Lvl 19 and the map is quite big.

Yep, like yourself and @bogmali I received an email today as well. I believe it starts Thursday the 16th of April and runs through Monday the 20th at 10:00 AM EDT.
I plan on checking it out since I haven't even messed with it since the beta either.

Yeah 4 days of free is not bad. I got one of those emails today as well. Now if we can continue to play for free after the 4 days would be nice, but I think we will still have to fork over cash for a real license/key.
