Palit hands down. They have a rep. who is on TPU daily and he's a great guy. Plus their cards by far look the coolest.

    Looks don't mean anything.

Palit sounds WAY to generic IMO

You say looks don't mean anything but you let something as trivial as a name hinder your decision? Well.. they aren't "generic". They have great support in the US. If you bother to look at anyones profile who is serious about video cards (WileE, Tatty, DaMulta etc), they use Palit. Evga would be my next choice also because of customer service. They are all the same cards, I go with the best company, and that's Palit.

Lol..it was kind of the same logic (more like a joke hehe)

I've never dealt w/ Palit, but I know people who have eVGA and XFX cards, and they're not disppointed people!! :)

Just a note guys, EVGA does not maufacture their cards, they only put stickers/change the cooling of them for the cards. Generally they are manufactured by foxconn and some other company i forgot...

Anyway I'd list it like this:

    1. Gigabyte NON REF DESIGN
    2. Palit NON REF DESIGN (Palit makes Vivkoo, Xpertvision etc).
    3. The Reference design; foxconn

If you are talking about the sales, EVGA has a good warranty, mod your card as much as you want and your warranty is still intact... So awesome! Apart from that I'd stay away from the reference 8800GT design unless its got good aftermarket installed. EVGA is NOT a manufacturer. All the ref 8800GTs are made equal.

    XFX
    eVga
    Palit

all solid choices, and theres nothing generic about Palit, i think they were the only brand back in the day that did a non-reference design on the AGP 6600GT, which was awesome as they did a sweet design that made the one cooler cover ram, gpu, and the bridge chip.

and dont let anyone tell you theres anything wrong with a reference model, sure non reference may work out better for various reasons, but it doesn't mean the reference design is any worse, or bad in any way.

Take a look at this Palit card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814261012 This is much more than just an OCed ref design or a card with an extra 512MB slapped on. It has an upgraded dual slot cooler, non-reference design PCB with upgraded 3-phase power, upgraded memory, spdif pass through port adding sound for those who plan to use the included hdmi adapter, and probably a few more features I'm not aware of. This would be the videocard in my system right now if I hadn't gotten such a good deal on my GTS at the time. This card has the potential for the best overclocks and stability. If you look around at other similar spec'd non-reference GTs you'll find this one usually costs less as well. :toast:

    Luck of the draw IMO.

BTW looking at my PC Power play mags, alot of the Palit cards are beating the other more well named manufacturers.

I bought a XFX 8800GT based on the manufacturers rep, but have come across two duds.
    First card overheated.
Second makes a very high pitch squeal after 20mins.

PALiT or Xpert Vision. Their custom cooler is quieter than the reference design and clock well.

Generic? the 2 manufacturers you mentioned use the "reference" design.....which is generic, Palit uses a "non reference" design which is...ummmmm.....non generic :D
