hi, i was just wondering why does everyone hate EA???
because they are noobs...and life ends for them when a video game doesnt live up to their expectations.
Nice try, EA.
Because they ignore their customers ' input on more or less anything, and they see profit so they figure it's fine. Also for their making it so you have to go through origin for games like battlefield 3. Things like that I believe.
lol im not from ea just saying
//does require reading, but I'll quote a bit for ya:
They ruined Mass Effect and consolized BF3. Personally I don't care but the hate isn't all unjustified.
Perhaps because of their unwillingness to even provide the illusion that their focus is customer enjoyment and comfort, over and above short-term company profit. Perhaps because they are viewed as having destroyed variation and experimentation within pc gaming, by absorbing studios and their franchises. Perhaps because of Origin and the fact that they want to force it down everyone's throat at this stage in the proceedings, given that it bases its success on the exclusivity of its titles, rather than offering a competitive alternative to Steam that might actual benefit the consumer.
But perhaps "hate" is too strong a term, and they could simply argue that their profits are indicative of widespread customer satisfaction.
I do not 'hate' EA.
Due to past experiences with EA, I have made a conscious decision to never patronize the company ever again.
For me, personally, EA is irrelevant, and I intend to simply ignore the company.
Because people are angry at EA's practices (rightfully so), but cannot stop buying games from them... How sad.
I don't specifically hate EA i just hate the fact that they seem to force there developers to release unfinished/polished games.
Also there's games like Crysis 2 where i payed 60 bux for a half ass single player and the multi player is 70% hackers therefore unplayable IMO and EA hasn't done anything about it to this day.
Pic related first play through, not even a challenge on "Post Human Warrior" difficulty.
Nice run man! Sad really the game was that easy.
I don't personally hate EA, but I think their style of managing their business is dying. With the new breed of casual games (Zynga stuff) and the slow but steady rise of games which consumers have a greater say on how the game is made (Starcraft II, DotA clones, etc), the "I made the game, you buy and play it like I want you to or gtfo" style is suffering a slow and painful death. Making games at the lowest common denominator is not going to cut it, with so many specialist studios springing up like mushrooms.
Because their first and foremost and the only meaning is make money. Their business strategy is perfect example how U.S economy works in its best (meaning in long term; worst).
When they find out the console games profit more, they decided they can actually hinder (or tried completely stop) PC gaming market. So what they did? They bought the most original game studios out there which makes best and the most innovative games. Then they killed them one by one. Or killed the games they were making. Remember bioware in its glory? And compare it todays miserable action-game making studio, you get pretty good laugh... err picture. But bioware is pretty much only studio who EA gave a change of actually make games. There is very strong bond between EA and Microsoft, so EA is not the only one to blame.
What pisses EA in this joint between Microsoft and Sony is they could make lots and lots and lots of money, by making a Baldur's Gate now for example. When BG was made there were no consoles and yet it sold better than any video game to date compared to how many PC's or consoles there is. Elders scrolls or GTA series are tiny compared to any black isle studio/bioware game for todays sales.
I agree man. Indie games remind me of the old NES days were the game was the focus. Not billion dollar movie effects with no backbone. Minecraft is so simple its stupid yet I put SO MANY hours into it.
Granted I love my big budget games too (BF3, SKYRIM) but those were also some of the highest rated games of the year out of the big publishers. The rest pretty much sucked. Cadaveca and I were talking about this a while ago. Indie publishers need more support. They haven't forgotten what games should be.
I don't hate EA. I do hate when devs put out crap titles, and blame EA, and people buy into it. It's like a meme now.
This is also true. DICE made a game with the biggest market. They are to blame just as much as EA. However thier crappy games tend to be better then most other AAA titles......Crysis 2 Im looking at you.
EA have launched some of the best games I've ever played on the PC. They've also ruined some sequels for those games as well for the sake of $$$. I am tired of the hype from EA mostly.. Crysis 2, Dragon Age 2 and Battlefield 3... they market it to death with teasers and trailers but when you get hands on there is a mild disappointment and then there is a question that arises to whether there will be any original and worthy games that will ever live up to the hype .
This is exactly why I hate EA.
1.) Their already telling us they do not care to hear any of the negative outcry/opinion or to utilize and improve the problems between EA/Developer/Consumer.
*This is absolutely stupid and everybody knows success in many scenario's in business is not being cocky and listening to the costumers.
2.) So how did "EA" get so successful with Origin, they left STEAM, and purposely made their software an Origin exclusive, and forcing people to use Origin for online service.
*I never saw, and never understood how "Origin" had a competitive balance against "Steam" , Because I have not seen any marketed improvements or features that make Origin sound like a competitor, THEY JUST MADE THE DECISION FOR THE CONSUMER ANYWAYS.
3.) They swallowed the creativity and quality control of the PC Game Industry, Everything has DLC content with EA on the game title. Their is no true Developing of untouched expectations, because their pushed out or made to be a certain quality and considered acceptable, basically making the decision for the consumer/developer period.
EA is pushing their weight around.
Their not acknowledging any problem
Its going to be to late for EA, when the 300million "customers" starts shrinking
And a side of the PR for EA and EA come out to Sympathize with the customers but overall giving the appearance of "greed", and ending up ruining the reputation and support the company could have had with many different decisions.
I don't understand why developers are teaming with EA,
But I'll explain.
Exhibit A: Stuff like this.
Oh, and below DICE, where it is written "what else do you need?"...uhm...I don't know...Mirror's Edge?
But stuff like that turd award isn't going to change their minds anyway, so I just plain don't buy their games. Since profit is what they are after.
Stats I could find show that the entire BG series had sold over 5M copies as of 2006.
The GTA series has sold in excess of 130M copies as of 2009.
Skyrim sales are over 10M.
Oblivion sold in excess of 3M copies, while Morrowind has sold 4M+
I can't find statistic pre-Morrowind, but excluding their first games we are still looking at total ES series sales of over 17M copies.
Eh, to be fair EA is a pretty dirty company, to employees and other legal issues they tend to be able to buy their way out of. They often crush and destroy very high quality smaller companies who dare to compete as well.
They have been a bit nasty to the consumers lately.
Overall they are not the worst of the corporations that exist in this world... FAR FROM IT.
So while I may very seriously not approve of some of their in some cases illegal and in others simply nasty business tactics, it is what it is, not a "good" company, however far from the "worst".
I would like to know who voted on this, a bunch of 14-22yr olds who play games all day and cry when things don't go their way and it disrupts their lives that much? Maybe a bunch of activists that don't approve of their employee treatment?
In my final words, if they produce a game I don't like I don't buy it or I speak rather nicely to the guys/gals at the retail store and they return it pretty hassle free 4/5.
Activision notwithstanding, EA is like the epitome of the tunnel-visioned greedy suit who sees and cares for nothing but the bottom line/share price at the expense of truly great products, any kind of real customer service or even proper and ethical treatment of employees. Cause all that shit costs more, at least up front.
I'm sorry but I think Activision is much worse IMO.
EA is no better or worse than any of the other large publishers. They all suck because they all want total control over the product. This means no first sale rights, no modding, no installing on unapproved hardware etc. I hate valve as well, as they help facilitate this kind of crap via their own command and control environment.
Separate names with a comma.
