Glossy makes color popped out. It's wow effect.
As for 'always', I still saw matte screen in the market.

Just look for a matte finish screen. My Dell XPS Gen 1 could play Hd dvds at 1080

Yes, this might be the main reason.

I've never really noticed the supposed popping of colours... I only find them annoying. They're laptops. The point of them is to be mobile, to be used in different environments. Enter a place to bright and glossy turns annoying fast.

    Matte all the way.

O hell yes, as the HDTV i use now is more low gloss compared to the Vizio HDTV i had just before it made things like rain totally sweet ( Matrix ) how ever i thought they worked better as a mirror and totally hate it on laptops.

Ohhhh... then I fear I have no option then... here in India. because the best laptop sold here online is shown above and it has glossy finish screen.
They are also going to put the same configuration with touch... I don't think if you get all above configuration with Touch then matte will be the option available or probably we may look out for.

the final word is you cant have all above spec with touch screen with matted screen. if any can anybody name one.. ?

Not 100% sure this is the computer (no R) but they show matte 1920x1080 replacement screens available:
Replacement screens for INSPIRON 17 7737

Of course, changing the screen would void the warranty. Perhaps if you ordered it directly from Dell, they could install the matte screen at the factory. That might be a special order though.

The only laptops I've seen with gloss screen are those that are either ruggedized or touch. The lion's share of laptop screens are matte. This laptop having a gloss screen standard seems silly.

Thanks a lot guys for your search...!
But I don't want to lose on any of the above features just to get an matte finish screen. and I don't think matte screen with touch display has ever come to market.....?

17" is must for me as I am going to use it for my VM machines so larger the screen more the space available for putty sessions. I already had 14" laptop which I sold due to its size and being 1st gen i5.

    @FordGT90Concept

yes thats good! but no Touch +Matte +FHD " screen available....

It looks like Sager has what you want:
    http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.php?page=category_browse&selected_cat=2

Matte is standard on all models except NP9570. All are 17.3" and 1920x1080. It might be hard getting a Sager in India though.

I think the only matte touch screens are old ones that only accept button presses. I think multi-touch (which modern laptops would have) requires glass to function.

Thanks a lot for your time and posts.
I will settle with glossy screen because this laptop is having all things besides SSD.

If possible can you tell me how many virtual machines this laptop can handle with 16GB and 4th gen i7 ? My requirement is at least 8 machines for testing purpose/practising.. linux/solaris/netbackup etc.
