bacause by the time the x1800 crossfire card were out, the x1900 series wasabout to be released, then when the x1900's came out the x1800 corssfires became unavailable meaning that the store owners now have an item that most x1800 users will want but can't find, leaving them to charge what they want. lol

Well the cheapest x1800 cf master card was 459$ i found ,i might buy it ,

i only paid 200 for my x1800xt$ and buying selling the x1800 xt for a x1900xt and a x1900 cf master card would cost alot more money and wouldnt offer that much of a performance difference.

if you've found one and you've got a psu that'll handle it go for it.

650 watt silverstone psu should handle it fine.

Well, the X1900's would have a pretty big performance difference only if you're going to play with high resolutions(1600x1200 and up) and every setting enabled with HDR. That's when the 48 pixel shaders really help. Depends on the user though.

Ive seen alot of benchmarks on the x1900xtx in like doom3 ultra quality 1600x1200 x4 aa x8 af timedemo demo1 benchmark like a stock x1900xtx hits like 71 fps or 72 im hitting 76 fps with my x1800xt running 750core memory/900=1800 mhz ive seen x1800xt crossfire vs x1900xt like less than 15 fps difference in alot of games.

heres a small detail, crossfire master cards have their days counted, it seems that the new ati chipsets remove the need for a master, but only works with the new 32x pcie per slot boards

a pair of x1900 have a hidden downside.. they f-cking toast and sound like a jetplane... i recon the pair of x1800s makes more sense..

u could cook twice as many eggs on the x1900 those 48 shader thingies take more power to run and the whole lot generates more heat.. its the cards main disadvantage i think.. power usage and the heat it puts out..
