    x850xt is clocked at 520/1080
    x800xtpe is clocked at 520/1120

architecture is identical so the extra 40MHZ on the mem is why.

edit: and thats soo not a good place to be comparing cards.

    try a real review instead

HiddenStupid, we got identical cards! To answer your question: I believe X800 XT PE came out before the x850xt cards (more than 6 months before) so there was nowhere to go, in the naming-scheme from a PR standpoint. I mean 850 is higher than 800, and that sells. Simple as that.

GPUReview is a great place. In fact one the few places where you can get unbiased, bare naked specs on various GPUs. No bs, no fanboyism, no meaningless benchmarks that vary from a machine to a machine and from a driver revision to another. Just pure, honest, specifications.

You mean a review done by a 13 year old kid from Shitcreek Iowa. Some kid pretending to be a big shot reviewer. Probably 90% or more hardware review sites go into that category. Kids nowadays can have a faux-review site up in running within hours. Seriously! Domain registrations can be had for low as $1.99 per year (thank you very much Yahoo!) and free hosts are aplenty. Just goes to show you even kids living in slums of Rio de Janeiro can get a site up and running.

I'll take actual filtrate/bandwidth specs over unprofessional and misspelled ravings of some puberty stricken fanboy any time of day.

dude it's user rated, meaning it's nothin BUT fanboyism. thers no real rhyme or reason to it, and no it's not pure specifications, it pure speculation lol.

The AGP cards are almost indentical (I have both and still have X850XT PE). In some cases X800XT PE was better than X850XT PE but with insignificant margin. The PCI-E is a litle bit different story because R480 (X850XT/PE) is newer revision with better overclocking potential than R423 (X800XT). In every other aspect the chips are equal.

X800XT PE is clocked 540MHz core (20Mhz higher than X850XT) and 560 MHz memory. but the X850 can easily be overclocked to PE speeds.
