Why you should buy an A/C

It doesn't get hot where i live. I only use AC about 20 days a year. But it is nice when you need it

Also, if you are really cheap:

It costs about $15 assuming you already have the fan and really works, I used to do it in my college dorm all the time(stupid college wouldn't give us A/C but gave us an ice machine). It cooled the dorm room down about 10°F, which does make a noticeable different in PC temps.

yeah i got a bsod when i thought just cause ibought an a/c that my pc was capable of god like clocks... my pc froze when my hd7970 was at 1300MHz no bsod.. but instant bsod when i oced 3700k to 5.0GHz... instead ofo being worried i just laughed cause i knew that was stupid..., but my gpu bsod'ed every 4 hours at 1075MHz i found that 1050MHz was the sweet spot <-- with no A/C, now i can 24/7 stable fold at 1200MHz which is AmAzInG with a stock referance cooler

i was just saying that my A/C improved my temps so much that i thought i could overclock it super high., but i ended up OCing my gpu very high.

!st of don't buy one from Walmart and go for a better known brand as i have always noticed the power usage of the walmart ones to take at least 50% more electric to run.

One of the ones we use now is from Walmart and uses 70w-480w were as a goldstar which is doing a much better job and smaller too takes no more than 100w as i ask my neighbor to test his out last year.

Walmart only sell junk for the most part so watch out as the prices are typically low for a very good reason.

This is all well and good if you're an overclocker.. Which most people aren't. Most PC equipment can tolerate warmer weather just fine. Besides, isn't it pretty common knowledge that lower ambient temperatures will lead to lower PC temperatures... and anything else that is in the cooled environment.

no its just that the rest of us cant afford it

electricity is only going up in price here. its not cheap.

Yes some times they do have top end brands to but you still have to be careful as they sell crappy ones made by even respectable company's.

All i am saying is if you find one at walmart make sure you check out the reviews online in depth. Good thing with walmart is that in our case at least we get 3 months to test the item out.

Take the FRA052XT7 for example

Ours been running 3 years now ( on about another brand ) but it sucks more power than any other we had\have.

Have Monday off so I'm hoping to have it installed and running before going back to work.

nice ac hahah! dude 25k? unless you live in a mansion that will cover your entire house!!!!!!! xD i would put it on max and put in in your pc room with the door closed at all times that way your pc runs in a freezer-like environment lol

also 9.4 eer is not good so even though u will ahve like the most powerful cooling ever you get the worse energy rating

Yeah, most of these types of units are on the low side. The place I'm in now isn't worth a nice ductless A/C nor replacing the central air unit/blower that died years ago. It's an older manufactured house (1995) that just has to keep me cold and the rain out til we can get a house built.

The central A/C dying wasn't all bad, ripped out the air handler which freed up space for vacuum, steam cleaner, and more computers

if only electricity is enough in my city I would put a giant A/C to cool my room, unfortunately its only 10A-12A 24/7 as average for each house, room water cool is the only practical solution.

:'( I kinda know how you feel, my first cat passed away June 2010. One of the saddest days of my life.

Back on topic though, I use my A/C mainly for sleeping or if I'm trying new overclocks during summer. Usually in winter it is cold enough to keep my computer running without any problems without the A/C on.

That is the same deal up here where I live. There are only a few months when I might need an AC, and when I need it, I need a good one. It's time to invest in another one. Maybe I'll Craigslist my old 5000-BTU one and just bite the bullet and get a 14k one.

I just stick a fan in my window blowing out, keeps my room at about 20 degrees on hot days.

That being said it doesn't get all to hot here at all XD

There's a reason they have them in datacentres and you've just proved that they also work on a small scale. And you end up feeling more comfortable yourself, too.
