it's relevant for people that thought they were going to watch Blu-ray movies on the Nintendo Wii U.

Anyone know if the Wii U will continue support of GameCube games/controllers/memory cards?

Rumors suck. Good words to live by: don't always assume. It makes an "ass" out of "u" and "me".

not yet but if Nintendo wanted to do 'Gamecube HD collection' the Wii U controller supports the scheme.

I think you might see them as VC titles. It always depends on how they worked the new games, if it's completely new formatting of the discs odds are it will not be BW compatible. Just a speculation.

I agree. Sony does PSOne Classics on the PS3. Nintendo is worse than Microsoft and Sony when it comes to squeezing a buck. Nintendo was so lazy with the Super Mario 25th Anniversary for the Wii they didn't bother removing the SNES controller legend that tells you which button does what lol

Sony get a cut on every Blu Ray player and Blu Ray disk sold, sure its only pennies but when you think they took a loss on getting Blu Ray into the PS3 you can bet it makes them a nice profit if you add it all up.

That is most likely why Nintendo do not support Blu Ray, also maybe because of piracy but thats kinda debunk as soft mods could potentially be created.

EH? I just watched that and he didn't say any of the tech demo's where made on PS3 or PC. HIGHLY doubt they would use PS3s to make tech demo's for this seeing as how close to the xbox 360 the hardware is it is probably made on a PC.

I didnt even hear Reggie say any tech demo's where not made on a Wii U dev system.

That doesn't mean it was made on a ps3 like you claimed.

How cheap of the N to use the footage from other consoles to promote theirs!

Most of the time its usually just CGI. Before anyone gets their pants in a twist mashing footage from other consoles isnt indicative of how its being developed. Its not like they made a trailer on PS3 dev kits they just took footage from the game from different versions.

If you read it all, it says "proprietary disc format", so NOT Blu-Ray.

my bad, probably blu-ray based like older consoles were very similer to DVD but not quite DVD, this is probably blu-ray but not blu-ray so no royalties

major selling point would be blu-ray player though, its why i got a ps3

let Sony have their trump card. Nintendo will probably still support Netflix. Nintendo did say changes were coming to the online experience.

Why are y'all so bent on getting blu ray from this? It's a game consuole not a movie player. buy a freakin blu ray player if you want blu ray. My home theater room doesn't even have a stand alone blu ray player nor do I care. Actually, nobody in my house has a stand alone blu ray player. It's in my dads pc and we steram it. There are plenty of ways to watch blu ray without a wii u. I think you'll manage.

not much use out in Europe (or asia, or south america, africa,Australasia etc) where we don't get netflix (the iplayer app doesn't even have all the bugs fixed)

we like to have a blu-ray player in our console as its convenient and cheap, if i said you had to buy a seperate pc (one for gaming, one for other) you wouldn't like it, and some of us like the same experience with our tv (one box does all), a lot of people had the ps3 as their first blu-ray player and the same was true with dvd's and ps2 (but not to the same extent)

Well that is most certainly not the scenrio now is it?

I could also complain the new xbox 360 slim isn't using blu ray but i'm not.

no one complained, we just said it would be nice, in the same way my phone doing text's, email, web browsing, and light gaming as well as phone calls is nice, having a console that Plays movies as well as games is nice

the xbox 360 uses firmware level copyright enforcement, whilst blu-ray drives only do it at software level so its hard for a Xbox to play blu-rays without total redevelopment
