Will an HD5850 run any smoother on a PCIe 1.0 x16 than a HD5770?

I have the option of buying either, but I can save £100 if I buy the HD5770 over the HD5850. But if the 5850 gets me more future reliablity and performance than Juniper to justify the price on my mainboard, I will get it. I have a MSI Neo-2 Platinum P35, it has 2 PCIe X16 lanes, but its 1.0 ports. Will this be a limiting factor? My CPU won't be too much of a bottleneck, since I run a E8400 @ 4.2GHz and it runs well :) Any advice would be brilliant. Also, I game at 1680x1050 currently and I run a X1950 Pro, which is no good anymore.
