will this cpu work on this mobo?

    i have a biostar U8668 pro s478 board with the via p4m266/vt8235 chipset and i need to know if i can use this core duo s478 t2300 cpu on it. SL9JE is the chip code.

    i cant really find any info anywhere

    Wait I think your comparing 2 different sockets. Sounds like the motherboard is desktop skt 478 motherboard. And the processor a skt 478 mobile cpu. Yes they both may have the same name and pin count, but they are NOT the same. So I think no they will not work.

    Look at laptops with core 2 mobile processors and look and dig up chipset info for that laptop... that should get you started

    the mobile chips will work on desktop boards, only a few though.

    its not a core 2 though... only core. i know its similar but it is supported on older chipsets.

    the only think im finding is that some aopen 915/865 board for mobile chips will run it but that board is almost impossible to find.

    i guess i may just end up selling this thing before i end up wasting money on it.

    hmm strange because I know my laptop has a pentium dualcore t3200 and I am pretty sure it uses mobile skt 478. I bought the laptop brand new less than a year ago...

    I say if you already have the stuff then try it, but if you need to buy one or the other then just sell it.

    thats a 479 board. i have a 479 board and it wont allow this chip to boot because the pinout is different.

    its a 479 board similar to one i have but this is a 478 chip... somehow:confused:
