Will Windows 8 be as "ready to go" as Win7 was?

So you can't address the fact that win8 will allow people to use the win7 UI interface, that's laughable. You are simply being argumentative by shoe horning an officious comment through specious means. IE: win8 looks similar to win7 (but failed to mentioned you are using win7's ui instead of metro). But even the task manager couldn't fully prove that point.

LOL

Wrong, I'm using the Win8 UI. You seem to think that Metro is the exclusive UI of Win8, you are wrong. I didn't take something from Win7 and put it on Win8, I simply disabled an option in Win8 and it makes Win8's UI identical to Win7's. This isn't "Win7's UI" I'm using Win8's UI, and Win8's UI is almost identical to Win7's.

That reply doesn't work. I made no mention of what you are implying I said .

Edit:
Anyway, back at the ranch. I would like to see an 1st quarter RC. At least by then we can get some user feed back to see if games are working and the frame rates are up to snuff.

I would like to see a TPU poll closer to the time when Win8 hits the shelves. It would be interesting to see how many people are actually going to bother when it seems it's just a skinned Win7.

Though if anybody wants to correct me on that, and list all the improvements, then please do.

What I want to see is if there is any gaming/memory improvement with win8 or not. There are some changes with win8. I don't have the full list but I mentioned some of them earlier in this thread.

I will go to W8 only for DX11, otherwise I'd stick with XP (2K3R2). Nothing else is useful to me. I'm a desktop, chrome, Office user.

If Windows 7 is Windows 6.2, the transistion will be as smooth as Vista to 7 (6.0 to 6.1). Major compatibility issues arise when they jump major version numbers (4.0 to 5.0 to 6.0, for example). I haven't heard anything that would suggest Windows 8 is anything except a minor update to Windows 7.

This is one of the things that got my attention. If the performance improvement is that good for rc and rtm then it's hard to ignore.

Are you friggin' handicapped?
Oh, it's name calling time, how classic (see what I did there, lol). I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Anyway, thanks for the pic.

To anyone else wondering what's going on. Captain.Abrecan is throwing a temper tantrum through name calling because I called them out on the w8devpre program (that you can download) which will revert win8 from Metro to Classic (which is what xp/vista/win7, etc uses). Look below to his previous post:

If you want to know what it is and how it works you can watch this video. :D

I can see a big performance boost in response time, like going from one screen to another, games faster, IE10 faster, CPUs from both AMD and Intel perform more efficient, GPUs should run bette. Overall a much smoother experince. The one poster had it right, Win8 could be like how WinXP/WMC was like back in the day.

Microsoft did say Win8 was a new build from ground up but will give user choice if they prefer Win7 style look.

8 is still based on NT kernel. They said that the brand new kernel will come only with Windows 9.

I hope 9 will be more secure and we finally get rid of friggin' registry. And maybe annoying dlls would go to hell too .... I wish

Tablet computers are predominantly in Microsoft's mind so it makes sense that they would cut back on the hardware requirements because we all know tablets are sorely lacking in that department.

You don't need an app to do something that is built into the operating system:banghead:
There is a desktop tile in the metro start pane, you click it and it switches. That simple, it's included right from the beginning.

It's besides that fact that using any old keyboard shortcuts moves the whole desktop out of the metro application. A simple alt+tab or start+d and you are in the classic desktop. There is no 'program' to 'download'.

Hmm, I wonder if those tablets are uniformed for 32bit/64bit or a mix of both?

It's your pic I was responding to. It has nothing to do with anything else other then what you posted. But it clear with the name calling and obvious reply you are extremely frustrated/upset. Perhaps you should stop trolling in order to relax. In any case, as I already mentioned before, the UI is going to take some getting use to in win8. :p

LOL, yup it look exactly the same as Win7's/vista/xp UI layout. :slap:

Your point is moot. Win8 doesn't use the same UI as win7/vista/xp. Making specious claims that you can revert win8's metro back to win7 is still moot, lol.

So other then saying we can revert metro back to win7 UI what point are you trying to make other then be specious about it? We already know that you don't have to use metro ui if you don't want to. The point being is that it's still there. Which makes the UI layout different. Your partner Captain.Abrecan made it obvious clear when he inadvertently posted a pic of the task manager trying to say it's the same as win7, LOL.

Thanks

Yes as it's like saying Vista and Win 7 are like XP as it's only a skin after all.. Shiii i bet you can get Win8 look like XP too lol.

Although i would of thought they would of tweaked it some by now but i would not be surprised if they did the same tweaks to both win7 and 8 unless win8's works slightly different..

What ya need to know if they are different is under the hud and the macanics of how it works.

True, that's why I said earlier that we have to wait until rc/rtm to know more about it. One things I did find out is that it's using wddm 1.2 and the memory management looks different but I'm sure there is more to it. Oh well, we will know more about it soon.

Most tablets will run 32-bit and most desktops will run 64-bit. Laptops will probably be mostly 64-bit but the cheaper netbooks will probably still see 32-bit. Microsoft for sure isn't going to stop 32-bit until after Windows 8.

That is because the desktop switch button is broken. I already reported it, I'm sure a few other people have too. It is supposed to make this change:
