Today, I am excited to announce that Windows 8 has been released to manufacturing (RTM)! This means we’ve completed the product development and testing of the product and have started handing off the final code to our OEM partners. They can now begin preparing new Windows 8 PCs and devices they’ll introduce starting with General Availability. For more on RTM, I suggest reading this blog post from Steven Sinofsky on the Building Windows 8 blog.

wiping my system clean tonight to install Windows 8! I have a bad virus on my system with windows 7 right now and it made my system unusable by disabling all system exes and putting a proxy on my IE9. Might as well upgrade to the newest windows :) Im not a hater for new tech!

what are you talking about? How can he work for windows 8. "You mean Do you work on windows 8?" And no its not a bad job. Windows 8 has a lot of performance improvements. The only thing that most people do not like is the UI.

Good. I'm typing this from a machine with Win 8 installed. I came from a bloated old install Vista and this thing is a dream compared to that. Before others start bashing, on my main rig I am on Windows 7. As for the infamous metro, all you need is one mouse click and you're in the desktop. Just have to get used to this OS. And if they let me have it for 40$ or whatever they will covert to for where I live, I'm sold.

You guys need to remember how stubborn we were when Win 7 came out, give it a chance... OF course in the start there will be issues but wasn't XP and 7 a bit buggy when they came out??

Finally got around to installing it on my laptop. Wasn't expecting much given how most people on here were blasting it, but damn it's actually quite usable! I really like the integration of services (Facebook, Flickr, Google, LinkedIn, etc). If the support is there I can definitely see moving to Windows for regular use.

I found 7 to be an exceptional improvement over XP.

Windows 8, on the other hand... well, I better keep my opinion to myself before I am labeled a 'hater' by the Metro fanboys.

Oh come off that bullshit! You only have to look at the OS to know it sucks ass! This thing was and is nothing more than a phone app! The thing looks stupid! My son has it on his PHONE! There is nothing I like about it! It looks like some 3 year old kid made up the icons and no start button what the FUCK???

Oh wait I'm a mod of this section too. KEEP IT CIVIL !!

On topic : I'll wait awhile and see what the consensus is when it's in the hands of everyone and people and businesses start using it.
While I do hate the look of the GUI, I'm not so naive as to think that is all that makes for a good OS.

To quote bogmali ... carry on.
    NHKS says thanks.

I don't think any sane business will upgrade to 8, many admins have expressed their total rejection over the course of beta...

Of course, I could see why an OS geared to tweeter, facebook and angyrbirds (game/apps) masses with fullscreen only mode on that particular mode wouldn't fly with them.

Actually, I tried the CP for about a week.

I have no issue with you doing with your PC what you wish to do, but I prefer to do what I wish with mine, despite what others might think or believe.

Well, it is geared toward the young urban hipster crowd, with the intent of siphoning off some of the Apple sheeple...

For me, 8 offers nothing I want or need that 7 does not, and several things I do not want or need.

your a joke. that's all im going to say. good bye

People let the stupidest shit get in the way. the UI is just one change that seems to just rock the haters world. There are al ot of performance tweaks under the hood. Also don't judge anything till you TRY IT, your opinion isn't valid till you experience it.
