Windows Movie Maker not recognizing avi video?

    i wanna edit out a file, its .avi and i converted it from .vob to .avi using 123 converter....
    it turned to avi but in movie maker is read as audio only. it dont show video, tried to change the extension to mpeg or wmv. But still wont work? anyone have any idea

    are you sure you just didn't convert the audio track?

    .avi is a container. So the video inside the avi file could be encoded with a variety of codecs.

    Do you know what codec you encoded the video with in 123 converter?

    You need to have those codecs installed on you system so you can read videos that have been encoded with that codec.

    You can probably hear the audio because you already have those codecs.

    i can hear aurdio and video on windows media player classic and normal
