I want to build computers as a really small business

, what i want to know is how can i get windows XP onto mulitple computers without breaking the law, i mean, do i have to buy multiple copies of XP or is there a single CD which will install XP with different keys on each one?

You can use one disc as many times as you want, it's all the same OS. You just have to purchase the product keys. If you want to distribute XP with the computers you sell, then you will have to purchase one disc per customer. You could even use Norton Ghost or similiar utility to set up Windows on multiple computers at once, as long as you have purchased the rights to install that many copies.

If I were you, I would purchase copies in bulk, CDs included. Install the OS, with basic configuration, and leave it to the customer to activate Windows. Seems like that would narrow down in possible legal issues. You can always call Microsoft. They'll tell you what you can, and can't do. Then you won't have to worry about anything. I know customer service lines are a pain, but then you would know for sure exactly what is safe to do, and what is not.
