For some reason I think another hard drive would do you well. Not Raid just back up for work projects.

The build is solid core compontents for a workstation. The gpu should be enough for your work, a GTS240/250 may be an optional upgrade if your concerned.

if you are willing to part with a little more cash for ALOT of performance, get an ssd.

and 80gb would let you install windows and all apps, as well as a partition for scratch. PS i know but quark for sure will also run sooo much faster off an ssd. use the 500 for saving, unless you save on a network then you don't even need that.

SSD

and uh, all computers are gaming computers :) and that one especially. even the 9600 can still do something, other than that you have a gaming rig right there :)

+1 for both comments above...(EDIT: I meant mlee49 and digibucc) You could also make a OS + 1-2 program SSD with the WD being back-up/storage drive... A vertex 30gb would be nice

not really. when you are running photoshop and illustrator, etc all day designing - those 30sec-2 minutes on each effect, transition, etc can really add up.

I have seen a noticeable increase in work productivity since getting my i7/ddr3/ssd combo going. it's well worth it/

Get an aftermarket cooler, cooler temps are good everywhere, gaming rig or not.

Oh yea, forgot about that... the i7 runs real hot, so get a scythe Mugen 2 or a s1283V with some MX-3 or some other good thermal paste
