Would a ag620 hold a 5700x3d in stock settings?

Hello

Previously I had a 5800x3d (which had to be returned due to high temperatures) which got very hot with this cooler (any cooler I tested in fact)

I returned it and got a 5700x which I used with an ag620 and the temperatures were very good on the 5700x

Do I run the same risk as the 5800x3d on the 5700x3d? I use 2 front fans and an exhaust fan behind the case and the ag620

My motherboard is a TUF B550M Gaming Plus and the case is an Aigo DK415M

Am I at risk of overheating or is it ok?

I run a 5700X3D under an AK620 Digital, and while I wouldn't say it runs cool it certainly isn't anywhere near dangerously hot.

Only on stupid hot days (think around 35C or higher) the Ryzen gets near 80C, otherwise it's low 70's.

My case - the TT Level 20 MT - is a hotbox, even with all its fans. Granted, a 7900XTX doesn't help with its heat output.
My motherboard is an absolute champ, cool all the way and has no issues whatsoever with power delivery or memory incompatibility.
The Ryzen right now has a low PBO delta (-15 on all cores, using PBO2Tuner, and default PPT/TDC/EDC).

Sounds like you should have just upped your cooling.

What country are you in? Here in the US a Thermalright PA-120 can be had for as little as $32.
That will handle a 5800X3D just fine, in fact it handles it better than the Noctua NH-U12A I replaced it with.

I live in brazil
Coolers are expensive and the temperature was about 40 degrees when i tested the 5800x3d

Ah, sorry you cannot get that cheaper then, that's a very rough ambient temp as well :/

I had a 5800X before the X3D, it can run very cool when setup properly.
Essentially the same as the 5700X if you're running it in 65W or have it tuned.

I gave that to my brother for his work machine, with a NH-U12S and only 1x fan on it. Cool as a cucumber.

My 5700x runs at about 65-70 degrees when playing siege ( it inputs about 400 fps with a 4070)

My 4070 also runs at about 70 degrees

I have 2 front case fans intake and 1 back fan exhaust ( cooler master 120mm sickleflow)

I don't think the 5700X3D is going to be all too different from the 5800X3D in terms of temps w/ your setup.

The problem with heat/cooling is the 3D-Vcache and it's only running a little slower than the 5800XD.
Maybe the 5600X3D but then you're trading cores for cache etc.

I think I'd just hang tight where you are, the 5700X is enough to go with that 4070.
You will likely need to go for a new set guts though when it comes time for the next GPU (4070 Super is about the ceiling for a 5700/5800X).

You have either a cooler issue or PEBCAK issue if something is running that hot at stock. Ryzen chips run very cool with stock/PBO off.

Fwiw, both the 5700X3D and the 5800X3D are rated at 105W. Both good up to 90C. You may not see a difference at all.

I was just gonna say there is minimum difference in the test in power consumption so you can expect similar temps with the 3D variants
they are just bit hotter than the non 3D version, if your ambient attacks 40 degrees it probably can reach 90 on CPU

But i got a good price for 5700x3d since i went for it

Alright, so you're pretty much in the same situation as me (Brazilian as well). 40C at idle is not an issue at all.

As far as I know, the AG620 should perform roughly equal to the AK620, so it should handle the 5700X3D just fine. If you already have it, there should be no issue unless your ASUS motherboard is doing ASUS things.

Important questions, though, would be: what thermal paste you're using and if you're mounting the cooler right. For the latter there shouldn't be margin for error, DeepCool's mounting bracket is very user friendly.

i saw some reviews saying that the 5700x3d is about 15 to 20 degrees cooler than the 5800x3d

I would say ambient temp at about 40c xD , not idle temps

Did you take the plastic off the cooler base? Thermal paste has to be absolute garbage to have that kind of temperature difference.

Also don't look at tiktok for advice unless you want an unusable desktop.

I´m waiting to test on friday since i will get the implastec

I already have the cpu in hands but i only have the rise mode paste

they ´re pushing pull as well i´m sure

i´m leaning towards the rise mode paste being bad , as i remember using a worse cooler with a deepcool paste on the same 5700x and temps were cooler
