That would be great, especially if you could find some engineers that would be willing to talk about their jobs.

Absolutely! Doing interviews would allow TPU to get exclusive information, and break news other than just reporting it, thrusting TPU further into greatness! Wonderfrul idea! :D

w1z asked me to post some of my ideas for questions. well i personally believe the questions would vary depending on who the interview was with and what the main subject matter was being covered. for example, an interview with someone at AMD/ATi would probably gear more toward what their plans are for the future. does AMD feel like they made mistakes in the past that account for the sales lag last year. How will the aquiring of ATI create competition and bring more options and cheaper options to the consumer. Perhaps someone being interviewed would be more willing to answer questions about future products that havnt been talked about yet. as we all know those questions are important for a tech site! another example would be if there were an interview with a company like OCZ. a little bit of research from their website can tell you all sorts of things about the company which can lead to questions about how they compete with some of the more established companies like mushkin or corsair. will OZC continue to expand into other hardware areas, like perhaps cases or even manufacture their own motherboards. these are just some of the things that come to mind.

a question i always wondered...

would a company ever build a system with just their parts? and make it work better than if you stuck something else in it - not because of locked parts but because they work together better than anything else?
i understand though that this would mean AMD/ATI would have to delve in to the world of RAM, PSU etc. not buying other companies either - producing something of thier own - imagine an AMD super machine!

just a question i think sometimes.

Definitely.

It would be very interesting to see what key people think about things like future hardware trends, consumer buying habits and how that affects their R&D, and what things they feel are holding back their paticular markets in the industry.

TPU Key Interviews With Insiders ... uh ... TPU KIWI ? Ok, maybe not. :p

Here´s my question:

Key people in the hardware industry,
if ANY changes were just up to you, what would the next Windows OS be like?

Another question:

Key people in the hardware industry,
What would you consider a real progressive step in the further development of the ATX form factor, or do you feel 100% okay with given ATX 2.2?

That's how systems used to be, ie IBM systems requiring IBM parts and such. Nowadays systems are mostly open which is a big part of the reason the inferior x86 platform became dominant in desktops.

It's bad both ways; companies create a smaller market for themselves and at the same time users are limited to specific hardware. Given it eliminates compatibility issues I'd say it's bad for the market and not of this time.

I'd say speak to researchers, people at factories, marketing people, etc.

Have a basic intro, ie name, function, how did you end up in company x, education (always nice to know what you need to study to end up somewhere, or vice versa, know where you could go with your study)

Some company/person specific questions. (ie ask amd about future cpu's, videocards. but ask thermaltake about cooling solutions or casing)

And add a few user submitted questions.
