I went to that link. Found this page there, looks like a really nice tool. You can even up the volts on the fly! I think that is what I'm going to use when I get my XT unless ATITool is going to have voltage options as well.

thats what i use, i wish they would just release the proper drivers etc already, that tools pretty buggy, and the 3dmark05 site reads my card as generic card 0mhz/0mhz or some crap like that, come on ati, youve never been known for excellent driver updates but these cards have been out for a month now...

Can you do some overclocking tests with ATiTool? I'm going to buy a new card... but I don't know if the X1800XL is better than a 7800GT

Well in my opinion overclockin x1800 xl is way easier , nicer and smoother. On the other hand , 7800 gt is also pretty nice video card , google is ur friend :) try to find some reviews on both cards ;) .

Dang guys, it's just 2000 extra points (over the last generation, which I remember as being around 5-6000 for 6800GT's (overclocked) and X8#0 XT's). I would wait for technical improvement instead of just an architecture improvement (like physically 24 pipelines, not just better architecture that makes it perform like 24 pipelines). The R580 is what I would wait for. But still, for you guys who have that card, congratulations, it's definitely a great card.

yeah , im not really convinced with this idea of 16 pipes :S . but x1000 series got fancy heatsinks and really beasts in overclockin , also i heard the atitool will add an voltage raise feature for x1000 series only , which makes it best in overclocking.Remember Geforce is pushing ATI down the hill , they juss released an 7800 gtx 512 . I mean wow juss go take a look at the heatsink how big is it although its 512 mb with 24 pipes . I think ATI should start pulling their sox , to compete with Geforce .

Guys, can somebody try to conduct fuse research for R520 using the new revision of ATITool and to post results if it is possible at all. Probably it will reveal some interesting facts about number of pipes for these GPU's :) .

To all x1000 series ;)

I was lookin thru some forums and some one posted this sayin x1800 xl is too cheap .

http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=x1800

and then lata some1 said its not comparable to 7800 gt . lol i guess we need to read some more reviews .

Read this : http://www.techspot.com/reviews/hardware/sapphire_radeonx1800xl/x1800xl-3.shtml :

Later on some1 said he would juss pay $100 more to get the gtx :S . Well ...

He said : But u can overclock it to 750MHz and then it cream a GTX at 550.
or u can pay another $50 and get http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin...h.cgi?q=x1800xt
:p

People kept fighting of which card perform most . To be honest with u x1800 xl performs betta , with that fancy heatsink and the insane overclockin ability it really creams the gtx..

Note: Many people say that 7800 gt scores more points than the x1800 xl in benchmarks due to lack of pipelines . Well to let u all know that , this card is new and ATI havnt released any drivers or update to it . Give it some more time ......

sorry, thats not the case, i currently own a x1800xl and a 7800 GT so i think i am qualified to comment here, the 7800 gt beats the x1800 at stock clocks, and with both oc'ed with my 7800 gt at lower clocks it still wins, (about 300 points in 3d mark 05 from memory) im about to do some more benchmarks, but at the moment my highest 3dmark 05 score was 7996, thats with a 3800x2 running at 2.75ghz and the card overclocked to somewhere around 640/1300 (dont remember, thats why im about to benchmark again) in comparison my 7800 gt at 484/1200 got 83xx and that was with my processor at 2.5, although the ram was only 1 gig back then so tighter timings than the 2 gig i have now, but overall i expected much much better form this card (with its high clocks compared to the 7800 i was actually hoping to hit AT LEAST 9k)
edit: my point being the 7800gtx kills the gt then whats it gonna do to my poor x1800 :(

thats like if i owned a honda civic, and once a review said they can do 180 mp/h but testing it myself i proved that obviously they cant, then you trying to tell me that because an innnnndependent review once said it it must be fact.

my results are different and i own both so i think i can make pretty good judgement on it, how many people on this forum can say they currently own both? i do take back part of what i said though, i just hit 8451 beating the gt by about 200 points, (processor was clocked 200mhz lower when i used the gt though) i also get complete system lockups at anything over 1.15 vcore for some strange reason... its not temp related, currently running at 17 degrees :) i still expected much better from this card though its certainly not 7800 killer or anything.

edit: i just looked at that review and eveythings tested at 1600x1200, i only have the free version of 3dmark which is 1024x768, maybe the atis are better at higher resolutions, but i cant test that.

BB7, I will remain ATI fan even a lot of things in ATI that irritates me and some testing results. But meanwhile I understand you very well and believe your words. I consider that you are objective. In order to help you to be objective to the end and to bring us (which are wondering what exactly card to choose for the future upgrade) more reliable results on higher resolutions for both nVidia and ATI I will attach a keygen which will solve your "problem" with 1024x768 resolution only;) .

thanks, ill keep you posted :)
im gona sound like an idiot but i cant remember how to change file extensions? didnt you used to just type .exe after the file name? nothings happening :$ stays as a jpeg, how do you change it sorry stupid question i know
edit: fixed it

just scored 5200 @ 1600x1200 with all setting maxed out dont know how that compares to the 7800 gt i dont want to reformat to try it lol, the 7800 gt is in a rig with a 3700+ with a 1 gig ram kit running 2-2-2-5 so it wouldnt really be a fair comparison... considering thiss is a dual core with half the cache and ballistix at 3-3-3-6 i might install windows on this comp on another hdd tomorrow

Games in these days "Do Not" need performance inorder to play it . Most of them r made to enjoy the graphix they have. Like FEAR uses more than 256 mb or bf2 , doom 3 !! . Well proly thas the reason ATI gets a better score at higher resolutions . Belive it or not , setting any card for instance , 6800 gt at high performance " Which lowers the graphix " wont do anything in bf2 or doom3 . xcept u will lose graphix . I hope u get my point , scoring aint nuttin important with defualt settings . ;)
