Unlocked all 16 pipes and able to run 700/700 24/7...

Has anyone else successfully unlocked and if so, what brand of card, and whats the max overclock?

Also, has anyone figured out a way to control memory voltages?

What's the core on this? R520 or R580 ? Is it the Sapphire?

Thanks

many ppl has unlocked their GTO's succesfully :), anyways you can control the mem volt. via atitool under "SETTINGS".

EDIT:
the R520, the R580 is for the x1900 series.

Yah sure but maybe they'll run out of R520 because that chip is tuposed to have been removed from production.

And how about those X1800GTO2!!! I mean the X800GTO2 used the R480, so I wouldn't be surprized that the X1800GTO2 is a R580 all the way.

uhh, there is no such thing as an x1800gto2...

Anyways, I have an HIS X1800GTO... In ATI Tool, under settings, there is no fan control or voltage control...

Is it possible some gto's have this option enabled in atitool while others dont?

can't... download rivatuner and goto hardware monitoring.

hello. I have read on the forums that most x1800 if not all, are unable to adjust core voltage and memory voltage via atitool. From what i have heard, a bios flash is needed to enable these features.

Could someone kindly explain to me these command lines used to flash x1800 gto so i could monitor my temps and adjust voltage.

atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 sapxl.bin
atiflash -f -p 0 gtomod.bin

I assume the sapxl.bin is the sapphire xl bios that unlocks the extra pipe lines. however my gecube x1800 gto can't unlock these pipelines as i have never seen anyone who unlocked it with this vid card. which bios should I use? Do these command lines also backs up my original bios should anything go wrong? Thanks !

flashing

nvm. I got it working. I did exactly what guide said and atitool is able to change vcore now.

really? Thats so weird man... I've never got that technique to work. What kind of card is it?

you flash a sapphire xl bios with the -newbios command then rite after you flash your modded gto bios with the normal command and somehow for some people it lets you control memory and core voltages.

As I have stated, its a gecube x1800 gto. (2.0 ns) I can adjust voltage core and voltage memory via atitool and I can confirm it by checking the built-in monitor on rivatuner. After flashing the bios, windows detected a new video card as if it was the first time I installed it to my system. I was unable to access the Catalyst control center after the bios flash. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. After that I checked with atitool and the voltage control and fan control showed up under "settings". However, ever since the bios flash, Catalyst control center couldn't monitor the temperature and the overdrive function seems disabled. Atitools and rivatuer temperature monitor works though.

Windows found new hardware because XL and GTO are two different cards under the driver information... When you flashed an XL, it didn't match the gto so windows acted as if new hardware had been installed.

I've heard this method worked and when i went back to see who it was that it worked for, I saw that only sapphire cards and gecube and some powercolor cards worked with this method. Can you enable your remaining pipes?

I remember when I flashed an XL bios to my card, I couldn't control core voltage, only memory, but when i flashed my his gto bios with 16 pipes enabled and 1.45v to the core, i was able to achieve the MAX memory speed atainable, which was 700MHz...

I flashed it yesterday with the gtomod bios found on ocforums and no luck.
Unfortunately, mine doesn't unlock with the 4 extra pipelines.I already knew that before I attempted to unlocking it. BTW, I used atiflash version 3.09 to flash the bios as the guide suggested on ocforums.

Im still happy with my oc as 3dmark score jump from default 5900 to 8100 (585/660). Couldn't push the core more because it seems unstable with voltage higher than 1.5 even at stock clock frequency. It might be my PSU. because its only a 450-watts-single-12v-rail PSU(24a @ 12v rail) and sometimes i noticed at riva tuner when idle the current jumps from 10.4a to 13.4a.While running intensive 3d applications, sometimes the current increases to as high as 26-28a. Do you think this is normal?

Well, at first, weren't the R480's only seen on X850 Series cards? And R420s and R430s were on X800 Series cards. Then Sapphire came out with the X800GTO2, which had the R480. I wouldn't be surprised if the X1800GTO2 came with an R580 core.

max is 1.45v dude. dont push anything more than that or *you will ruin your pcb*
Make sure you keep your fets by the vregulator heatsink cool...
my current goes up to 35A... I think this is a limit on my psu but for me, my processor is my bottleneck.

lol my bad. i meant 1.150 not 1.5! Seems a lot of people also have this problem with their x1800 gto. That being said, is it recommended to get dual 12v rail psu? At stock rivatuner reports my voltage regulator running at 10-16 amp at most.

Also while playing games with my rig (a64@2.3 ghz 1 gb geil ram), I noticed that no matter what video settings I use, the frame rate seems consistent. Tested Guild Wars and Heroes 5 at resoulutions between 800x800 4x fsaa + 8x AF/ up to 1600x 4x fsaa + 8xAF. . (Well Heroes 5 fps is reduced by a minimal percentage) However when I zoom out the game, more moving objects and neutral enemies are displayed on the screen, the performance I get at 800x600 and 1280x960 resolutions are exactly same(around 30-35 fps) Is this a sign of cpu bottlenecking my video card?

I did it on a HIS. I'll bet if you compare the XL and the modded GTO bioses you could get the best of both worlds. I would really do it if I had time...

Give this one a shot. This is the one I extracted from the card after successfully getting the pipes and temps working. I would try flashing using atiflash 3.14 with the -newbios command:

Anyone try this bios yet? Thinking about flashing my HIS ICEQ3 to 16 pipes. Been using the stock bios since i first recieved the card. Card OC's nice with 1.45v it is 100% stable at 729/756. Havn't had anytime to push it further but feel there's alot left in it. When i applied AS5 to the gpu I noticed i do have 6 phase inducators and 1.2ns memory.
