yeah, if the dying hard drive is reading badly...

btw. How do you back up the licences... I'm forever reinstalling xp and the microsoft girls are getting a bit suspisious :p

Wpa.bak and wpa.dbl are in your windows/system32 folder. You can back those up and then, after installing windows, go into safe mode and copy them to your new system32 folder. This won't work if you are using a new computer because it will go nuts over the hardware changes. By the way, I have activated windows about 30 times on 5 different computers with one license...they never figure it out. "...and how many computers are you running this on?" "Oh, at least 40." Yeah...like anyone would actually be dumb enough to be honest. I paid for XP Pro when I could have gotten a pirated version, they should be happy with that.

It must have been the evil old clicky hard drive, because everything is fine now.

I'm going to strap bombs to this computer, I swear. Now my 3dmark03 score has dropped from 98** to 85** with no apparent reason. Guess I'm going to have to figure this one out...

New score! 0. Yes...0. 3dmark03 is no longer supported by my card because my card does not support texture compression! I HATE MY X800!!!!!! I have never ONCE had a problem with any of the 4 NVIDIA graphics cards that I have owned. I’ve had nothing BUT problems with this pile of junk!

Finally fixed it...after almost tossing the card out the window. I reinstalled the drivers 3 times, I reinstalled directx9.0c, I uninstalled CCC and I reinstalled the AGP drivers. Now my score is back where it should be. I’d still like to know why my card DOES NOT work with CCC no matter what I do…

I had similar sounding harddrives with the pauses when fiddling with SCSI HDD's on my system although they worked in another computer. Was having similar problems with IDE HDD's recently before my 9800PRo's fan died killing card. Went to Nvidia PCI video w/o it's own power (untill getting X800GTO) and problem dissappeared. Had been cursing luck with HDD's going bad lately. While installing X800GTO drivers problem started again, corrupting drivers and software while copying to HDD. I finally figured out that one power cable was going to 2 HDD's THEN Video card. When I gave the GTO it's own power all pauses and clicks dissappeared. I truly think too much of a power draw was the issue. Now I need to figure out cooling this damned thing as atitools fuzzy square drives temp past 90 in the blink of an eye w/o OC.
