Xfx 9600gt or his 4850

guys ive been struggling to pick which card to get the price r the same im buying either one to use it to play warhammer online..any advice would be great ^^

The 4850 crushes the 9600GT, I can't believe they are the same price. The 9800GTX matches the HD4850 in performance, so the 9600GT is way overpriced.

The card is almost a year old, the first batch is long gone, so that is really a non-issue.

That 4850 absolutely!

Not only does the 4850 outperform the 9600GT, but that card comes with a pretty good cooling system.

They are charging way too much for that 9600. I recently bought the same card for my brother for R1250, while my 4850 cost me R2200, which is a good price for it.

Would i need a bigger power supply and a higher quality one to run the 4850 currently im running a psu 450watt that came with the antec case

you should get a good 550w or even better to avoid problems in the future...

I'd think of getting at least a 550W to give yourself some safety. Antec, Thermaltake, Zalman, Corsair, Seasonic, Silverstone, etc. The Corsair seems to be the sweet spot between price and performance.

4850 for sure

I am running a 9600 GT right now. I am going to a 4850 1 gb this week.
The 1 gig 4850 runs games about 10% better on average then the 512 version
according to all the research I've done. They both run circles around the 9600 GT.
Defintely go 4850 and if you can swing a few more dollars get the 1 gig version.
You will pay right about $200.

Wait a moment guys, he may not need a new power supply. Please, check the label on it and post back with the model number. Also 4850 definitely. If the 9600GT was a decent amount cheaper and you were on a strict PC budget, then I'd say go for it.

Even if it's an Antec Basiq or Earthwatts he will be fine.

+1. Just open the case and see the infolabel on the PSU. Thought if it's Smartpower series, you should change it immediately.

Spearman you are running the stock cooler on your 4870 ?
I'm getting a Powercolor 4870. Sounds like they heat up pretty
good until you tweak the fan with an updated CC. Any suggestions ?
I keep my case open so it never gets to hot any way. It is closed inside
my desk so no one can screw with it.
