I have that card(or a card that looks exactly like it) also and there are definely LED's on the back, when the card crashes usually the D601 or D1601 LED turns bright red, . . . . . . can you check again

I see now, thats not a v2, I don't know why it has the heatsink for one though, but you see the area on the bottom that says D1603, D1601, D1603 right under the PCI power connectors solder points on the bottom, the LED's are supposed to be there but XFX never soldered them on, . . . . . . but another problem is that the PCB from that card is supposed to be from the last XFX 4890 here, which by stock is supposed to have the 2 wire fan, meaning you might not get fan control with that card, keep pushing XFX for more info is all i can say man.

also take your S/N picture off, never put your cards s/n on the net.

Anyways, you said you have a Card exactly like this.
So does it have the Fan controlling issues that mine does ?
You also said your Card crashes, why and how ?

the fan on mine was controllable but over 60% it sounded like monster in my computer, it only crashed when I overclocked it because XFX didn't use the same components on the pc that the others had, they used cheap parts for everything so overclocking was really bad, when it crashed D601 on the back lit up meaning not enough power to the core.

Well... XFX says is unlikely to be a PCB/Cooler manufacturing "mistake".
It might still be from the motherboard..
I'll try to test it in another MB and then I'll update you.

Thanks for all, JF

I had this problem with my XFX HD4890 XXX. I had to re-lock Overdrive in CCC and use Rivatuner/MSI Afterburner to get fan control and overclocking. Something with a bug in Overdrive that prevents proper fan control.
