XP's long shutdown time on Dual boot

I recently set up a dual boot, XP x32 pro and Vista x64 Ultimate. Whenever I am on the XP partition, and decide to hibernate/shutdown/restart, the computer sits there for about 2 or 3 minutes before doing anything. It was doing this before I installed everything, with the exception of maybe a driver or two. The Vista partition performs just fine, so I am wondering if this is common with XP on a dual boot. I recenttly was using only XP, and it worked fine, and responded quickly. Any ideas why, or is this just something I will have to put up with?

Never noticed that. Can you remember which drivers ?

My Nvidia drivers and mobo drivers are the first thing I install on a fresh copy of Windows. They are the exact same version I had used just 1 week ago on a stand alone XP, and it never acted like this.

Can you try a registry cleaner or even just use a hack to speed up shutdown times ?

What type of hack to speed up the times? I did not know these exsisted...

If you check your Event Log and are receiving either event id # 1517 or 1524, take a look here for more info.

I have had this problem with XP before,but mine was hanging at the shutdown screen.

(trial version) Does both - install and remember to click "optimise my system" to speed up shutdown.
