It's great to be here and thanks again for the cold beans and the warm welcome!

I will be dropping a few quads for a bit on the TPU WCG team account to help out and as thanks for helping us through our "forum withdrawal syndrome". :toast:

    Regards,
    Bob

EDIT: To the XS or TPU crunchers out there.... In order to put a couple of the farm quads on the TPU team account, it looks like I have to create a new user account on WCG? It appears it is "all or nothing" on the team affiliation. In other words, I would have to put the entire farm on TPU unless I made a new user account on WCG, and put just those quads on TPU? I only want to do this long enough to rack a few million on TPU. Thx  (in XS emoticonage )

Yes, you have to make a new account, like tpu123bob or something. Way back when we had the XS_THE_MACHINE vs Admins, I couldn't just switch my rigs. We had to make an account for everybody to use.

Thx 4x4. I first joined the team for the XS contest. I've been with XS ever since.

Depending on the ease of doing this and the risk of dropping WUs, I may just move the whole farm over for a few days. It might be simpler and more efficient. ....Don't worry XS teammates. I will be back. Enjoy the pie in the meantime....;)

At first I though this was a joke...but careful examination reveals the genius of the design.

replaced psu fans in two of them, and one has caps getting ready to blow out, literally so they are getting the guy a new computer before this one blows up.

OK, I did the deed. I moved the entire farm over to the "TechPowerUp!" WCG team for a few days. Between Rammie and I, we should be able to pay our gracious hosts back a bit for the hospitality.

It was quite easy to do this. No WUs dropped and the farm didn't miss a beat. Now I know how Rammie moves around so easy. You just click a few buttons on your WCG page and poof!, you're moved.

Any other way to do this would have cost WUs. That would have violated the #1 cruncher rule. Never throw away good WUs.....

I'll be back to XS WCG in a couple of days. I'm still GPU crunching for XS GPUGrid. Enjoy the pie while I'm gone. :toast:

Thx again to our hosts here at TPU. (A thumbs up in XS emoticonage...)

I still have [XC] tags on my Xtremesystems username.

Movieman removed those a while back.
This must be an older backup.

Putting the pieces of info together would lead me to believe that the re-install of the forum takes two days to accomplish. That would put it on late Sunday/early Monday depending on your time zone.

As to the back-up used, I think it will be from Feb of 2009? Sounds like the current one from March 26 was toasted. EDIT: cross posted with radaja. Perhaps it is an older backup....

I posted the following on the TPU WCG team thread here.

Everyone should crunch, no matter what team you join. We work hard to make our machines the best they can be. This provides a real return, for the real world. WCG offers many projects to work on, all the way from helping develop clean energy sources to helping cure cancer.

The application is easy to use, very well behaved on your machine, and capable of running quietly or hiding in the background while you game or surf.

Check out the TPU link here for joining info on the TPU team. Of course, since I'm an XS refugee and this is the TPU page, I direct folks there.

We do have tons of info on the XS WCG page to help with setup too. You all are most welcome to visit us over there when it comes back up. (Please stop by and say hello. :toast:) If you are TPU, you should join the TPU team....

    Regards,
    Bob
