Terrible news. The Tent City Distillery is Offline :( Some possums et through the barrel...poor bastards...burned the flesh right off them.

I got the gnaw-hole patched with a pair of Fart_Plume's kevlar thunderwear but she's still building up some pressure. No sipping till noon...

DaMulta might have some surplus stashed I dunno.

My kids believe that I've become very generous lately. With giving computers away and all. Little do they know I'm making room for the next project. My 11 yr old daughter has an AMD Athlon X2 5200 with 2 gigs of ram in a Lian Li V1000 dual booting Vista and Hardy Heron. I'm considering giving my 8 yr old my Dragon Platform (Phenom 9750 and HD3870) to make room for a possible Core I7 rig I've been contemplating building. Or maybe I should just build him a rig. I do a lot of encoding and a I7 would be nice but I should just wait for the next core hike. We need to start hosting meetings. This habit is really getting the best of me. Where can I find the strength?

...yeah, I already thought the new posts (from today) would be lost when the restore process is completed. Anyway, I'm starting to be upset with those down times there. It's not acceptable.

lol I just mentioned (on XS) that such things probably happened with the old backup being restored, i.e newly registered members wouldn't be able to access the site.

Well, if you really feel that way...you know where the door is. Personally, I wouldn't miss you seeing how two faced you can be.

Since my illness, Charles and some others have been better friends to me than some people I know in real life.

probably yes. I'm not worried about this. What I'm worried about is there's no possible discussion about those down times at XS. Discussing it here makes no sense, as it can't have the same impact as on XS itself (and it will bother the TPU team, that's normal), and speaking out on XS means risking a ban. I wrote a message that I finally didn't post because of this. If I posted it, first it wouldn't change anything to the way XS servers are managed, and I would get banned. So we're just stuck between saying nothing, or not much, and expecting the next down time and the two or three words from the forum's owner (what's his name?) telling us he's sorry etc..etc...

Then again there's the forum called real life*. Read a book or go sit in the sun or do both at the same time instead of worrying about a forum.

*No. Not the one with http, www and dots.

thats not what i mean, just the lack of an explination is a bit annoying, and i lost fs threads and important pms
wtf dude, i dont even know you ?

  20. twilyth Guest

I think the point was that a lot of people are happy to jump on those of us pointing out the obvious until it affects them personally. THEN . . . watch out. Of course that's just my read. :)

its always a different story when people are effected personally, i.e. data loss,
there wasnt data loss the last time... and i think it just careless for this thing to happen a second time.. i mean many people have offered to help him out, many of them being experts in fields such a server hosting and data loss prevention :s, correct me if im wrong :s

no you're right, probably... except there's still a small chance that we might not know what's going on exactly...
