TES Skyrim, without any doubt... got 200 hrs of played and still having heaps of fun without counting in the fact that MODs will make the game last far more than 1k hours, this for sure because I played Oblivion for something like 5 years.

Still playing BlackOps from last year too.
BF3 feels too console to me. BF2 and BF 2142 were better IMO. Sniping shotguns and tacticle lights creating game balance issues in BF3 is as retarded as it gets.

The thing that really gets me about BF3, the glint of the scope. Seriously? They had to make it THAT easy to spot another sniper.
And sniping shotguns, well, that's just a carry over from BFBC2.

But I agree wholeheartedly that BF2 and 2142 were way better games. Hell, I liked BF1942 and the mods for it better than BFBC2.


Other than that, I was surprised to see RAGE on here. I read a bunch of reviews for it and there seemed to be a lot of hate for the game.

I love you man. To me the menus were just one of several bad things.

I am playing Skyrim (with the Sky UI and a hefty amount of ini and driver tweaks) and am bordering between marvelling at the scale and beauty of what Bethesda have created and finding it all just a bit boring. The most important thing that an RPG needs to do is to get the gamer interested in the characters and the relationships with the NPC's. Skyrim so far is failing to do this. 2nd most important is that the storytelling aspect of the RPG introduces a bit of intrigue in bite sized digestible portions. Again, Risen done this very well whereas i get the feeling that if Skyrim does this, it will be necessary for the gamer to spend an 8 hour session in the game in order to take in what is going on. Finllay, things would be greatly helped if the combat system was fun but in Skyrim it is simply a case of buttom mashing/potion spamming with no real opportunity to deploy any kind of skill unlike in Risen where regardless of the character level, a good amount of arcade skill and gameplay was involved in the combat.

Most around here would consider this a blasphemous thing to say, but the greatest free roaming RPG of all time is not Skyrim, it is still Risen but since Risen was released in 2009, i can hardly opt for Risen as my 2011 game of the year.

Like a great big long list of other US developed titles before it, Skyrim is grossly overated.

EDIT: thinking about it The Witcher was better as they configured the controls correctly unlike Skyrim. But you could say Minecraft to as i have put more hours into that than either of them lol

Skyrim - After 1.3 fixed LAA, and overlooking some of the bugs I have to fix with console commands, this is a game unlike anything from the past 5 years. Yes, I'm downplaying Portal, Crysis, and Starcraft 2 (despite how amazing they were).

Serious Sam 3 - Old school fun, and relatively 100% from the word go. If only all shooters worked like this...

Terraria - It may be older, but is tons of fun even on low end laptops. As this was my only choice for nearly a month I'm less than an unbiased source.
