Sad but also justified here. I'm all for emulators for old systems so people can still enjoy games they loved from them, but emulators for systems that are still being actively produced and iterated on are just piracy with a different label.

I have to assume Nintendo's profits on hardware exceed their legal team payouts. I wonder about psychology though. Does it make Nintendo more money by locking their IP to a single console they control as opposed to making their games available for all platforms? So perceived scarcity makes more people buy in and get locked into the ecosystem. Surely the development costs are much lower developing for a single piece of hardware, including long-term bug tracking and tech support. Who knows, maybe they just prefer Keep It Simple Stupid even if it makes them less money overall.

I honestly think it's pride at this point with Nintendo.
From a business standpoint it just doesn't make sense; the money would literally pour in once you license them.

I wonder if Nintendo is coming for Ryujinx too or it's just the whole 30k/mo Patreon with fixes for unreleased games that finally got Nintendo to fire up the lawsuit cannon. Anyway, considering how they made it almost the most user-friendly emulator of all time... can't say it's unexpected.
