Performed Mods:
Only minor mods atm. Cut 1 of the cd drive bezels to allow psu cable through to tidy up wiring. painted 120mm fan bracket black. still have matching black ally dvd drive cover to mod and fit. Did have a swiftech water cooling setup in it but the pump was to noisey, RMA'd it for the NH-C12P. Sleeved all wiring with black snake skin and mounted all fans on anti-vibration mounts.

Wow, thats one big ass cooler you got there. Only thing I'm not liking is the cooler/PSU placement. There is virtually no gap between them

Either the CPU and PSU fans are working against each other (bad)

Or they are working together and the PSU is exhausting all the CPU heat (also bad)

Is there any other way it could be done?

Yeah, I know it isn't ideal but there is no other way. I was thinking of maybe mounting the fan on the side of the h/sink facing into the case but there is not much room on the side. I might even cut the side of the case and put a 120mm fan there with a filter to blow air thru the cooler rather than down onto it.

The psu still runs very cool and quiet but the cpu idles around 36 @ stock. I live in a very hot humid area though.

As much as I love the case it has terrible ventilation. :)

very clean build, nice job.
( the CPU cooler fan is on backwards, the exhaust is supposed to be facing up so the PS can exhaust the air out the back. Right now the PS and the CPU cooler are fighting for air)

That Scythe Orochi there, I think its massive enough to work passive, since the PSU fan is there for air exhausting anyways...

yeah I haven't tried it yet without a fan. These phenom cpu's get friggin hot but!!!! I was used to the core 2's and forgot what amd chips were like.

I think I am going to go with the side fan option and see if that helps. the case has 2 120mm intake fans but no exhaust area at all. there is a 80mm exhaust in the hdd cage but that is kinda seperate and no where to put another fan. there is a small perforated area on the back of the case that could house a couple of 40mm fans but that is about it.

are you sure those rams are running dual channel? usually there should be one for each couple of slots, but it depends on the mobo
by DrunkenMafia (October 7th - 2:54 PM) - Reply
Yes they are. Luckily the slots are next to each other or that ram wouldn't have fit with that cooler. as it is now the ram is just touching the heat pipes of the cooler.

I used MX-2 paste and it reckons there is no cure time but my temps have dropped almost 4c since installing heatsink and I haven't done anything. not complaining though :)

Thanx for the fb

Cheers warup :). I didnt really try to make the wiring that neat, it kinda just fit in there like that. :)

I am considering selling the phenom though and going to a core 2  its just so damn hot in there!!!

Its ok now. All my temp problems solved. I turned the h/s fan around so it blow up and into psu and got a new mb. same model but rev. 2 and it is cool as a cucumber. :)

I think you need to take pictures that show 3 dimension of the case, because I can't picture the overall look of the case.
