Performed Mods:
Firstly I cut out front, top and back case grills to improve airflow (silvermax II mod), then... I decided to WC my rig with spare parts I could salvage from a couple of friends old setups and aquarium parts I had laying around! So these are the parts I had to begin with: 1. an old EHEIM 1048 (600 lt/hour) pump... 2. cpu and NB blocks from an antartica WC kit 3. a Hardware labs Black ICE GT radiator 4. a Themaltake radiator striped from a bigwater kit 5. ALPHACOOL PUR 10/8MM UV Green tube.... The first step was striping the maximus formula of its cooling setup.... In order to remove the fusion block without cracking the mobo I put it in the fridge for about 2 hours then it just came off with minimum effort.... Second step was installing the waterblocks....Only wish I had a SB block to fit as well! And it went on from there.........
This is the final transformation of my personal rig! 18/11/2008 just added my new cpu: QX 9650!!!!

Nice setup with good hardware, really nice overclock,, the hoses are tight with no goofy bends,, your rez is one of my favorites, I also like your choice to use compression fittings. Nice build

thanks for your comment!
i am not a professional photogrpher but i try my best and sometimes it works.
you have a very nice rig!
also very nice 3d mark score.
i like the two ati 3870!!!
wanna have a crossfire with two 4850 by myself, but do you think that is worth, i mean because of the 8x8 lanes on my p45 chipset?
by the way my monitor has a max res of 1440x900.
greetz!!!

@Steelkane.... thanks for the kind comments, and I too prefer compression fittings!

@undmor......thanks and I insist that you take great pics...as for the crossfire, well it might be best that you go for a 4870 x2 2gb ddr5 card and utilise 16x lane speed....

Yet another awesome gallery submission from you. Looks very nice little too flashy for me but not too overdone like quite a few others. Rated you a 10/10.

PS: Nice temps!

which set of temps do you consider correct?

this is obvious in idle with all fans set in lowest speed!
by tzitzibp (October 24th - 6:36 PM) - Reply
this includes CPUID....

Hmm, not sure which one is right,, but here's mine
by tzitzibp (October 25th - 12:28 AM) - Reply
wow!!! that is really low... what is the ambient temp during those readings?
and what do you get with real temp?
by steelkane (October 25th - 1:57 AM) - Reply
Room temp is 75F, side by side compare
by tzitzibp (October 25th - 4:34 AM) - Reply
apparently, there is a max formula issue with the temps (asus usa forums)....
up to bios 0907 temps would show as e.g. cpu:20, core1,2:33-35 idle) and so on!

chk top right corner! and that was a e6420@2.13Ghz oc to @3.2 Ghz .....

all that changed after that!

Nice build, I like what you have done with your WC setup from 'old set-ups and aquarium parts I had laying around!', very well done and nice temps there.

Well, I have minor modded about 10 rigs in my town, over the last year, and I am usually left with all the spares, and I keep a tropical aquarium....thus 'old set-ups and aquarium parts I had laying around!'.

Thank you for your time and comment!

I just replaced the south bridge cooler with an ENZOTECH CNB-S1 NORTHBRIDGE HEATSINK and the SB temp idle droped to 36C while OCed to @3.6GHz....

So at the moment the temps I have are shown below...

temps for {@3.6ghz - Mild OC} are:
sensor : idle - load
cpu: 38 - 50
mb: 32 - 36
NB: 38 - 45
SB: 36 - 43

had to rma one of the 3870s due to a bios flash (!#@#@@!^%$#)

so i received a Sapphire HD4870 Toxic to replace the crossfire!

soon to post some benches!
by tzitzibp (December 26th - 2:09 AM) - Reply
well after a couple of tries....18509 3dmarks 06 (single HD4870 TOXIC)

The good news is that because my 3870 cannot be replaced with the same model I can replace it with another 4870 toxic and pay the difference (about 100$)... So soon to have an HD 4870 toxic Crossfire!!! and the benches will keep coming!
