Key Features: Custom paint job
Performed Mods: This is my first attempt at a computer case mod. I have not built the system yet but that is next project. I wanted to create the rugged look and feel of a military radio which had survived a global war and was retro-fitted for use by survivors in a post-apocalyptic world. I began with a Corsair Carbide 400R and modified to frame to incorporate two speaker openings which allow air movement through the front fans. A window was cut into the case and a military theme plate was mounted to the top fans to allow airflow (red led fans were mounted in the top). A headset holder was fashioned out of a metal container and mounted to the side panel. Radio dials were added for effect and a fake control box with toggle switches and LEDs (wired to the on/off switch and reset) were added to the top. Camo paint used brown/green and tan undertones with a lighter spray through a laundry bag for a snakeskin effect. Camo netting and decals were added for effect. Aging was achieved usind a combination of aluminum dry brushing, paint effects, scorching with fire and rubbing with fireplace ashes. The case finish was sealed with a satin clear coat.
The major tools used were a drill, jig saw, files and a pop riveter. All painting was done by hand or spray can. For more details you can view this mod at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuNhy34AeeA

Very cool, I dig it! But needs some real bullet holes. Take the size panel out to the range and make it authentic :D

Hello, thanks for the comments. I am slowly collecting the parts over the next few months then I will complete the build. My wife won the coin toss and she got the first build, so I concentrated on the mod . . . Once I get it built, I'll update.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliment. Thought about the use of live rounds. . . Being in the military, I took an old computer side panel out to the range and pumped various rounds into for effect (Sig, C8, C9). Most of the strikes were through and through with little scoring (the metal is too thin) . . . the plexi glass was completely shatterd by the bullets. In the end I opted for the drill method :-)

Cheers
