System Specs:
ASUS P5W DH Deluxe. Intel E6600@3500. X1900XT@XTX. 1x150Raptor system/save. 2x74Raptor Raid0. X-Fi Fatal1ty audio. 24"+19" monitor dual.
The case took about 2 months to finish. Goal was to make it as small as possible, have room for ATX MB, 4xHD and so on. Important was to get good airflow without much noise. The PSU placement posed a problem, but solved it by "inventing" an easy removal system :). Rawmaterial: Plywood, Curly birch......... http://img227.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img227/5357/1159357090576.smil

Post your commentYour casing sucks. Looks rubbish pathetic. 10 for you.
you have some nice gear there m8,10 for the gear.2 for the case.sorry
I like it very original, great gear :)
I think it looks ok, well you use it in that livingroom setting?
by: ChewyNope. Have it in my "Gaming/office room" :). Will add pic later.

wtf... this is hella clean.. i want one :( now you shoulda paint it! :D
You know, I think wood would give better cooling than metal. More breathing. I would have chose something better than particle board, but I like the design. I was thinking of getting my dad to make one and that is basicly what I had in mind.
10, and this makes me want to make a new mod case.......
by: JC316Wood is a good material to work with. The material i chose isn´t. Get your dad to make one? Shouldn´t you try for yourself instead? Even if the result doesn´t get perfekt there is some satisfaction to create with your hands and mind :).

thats crazy awesome! 10 for ya
thas nice!
i would worrry about heat getting trapped in there, what with what looks like noise dampening and wood (!one helluvan insulator!) and would've put another fan on the front(maybe one 80mm in front of each HDD cage set for 2 new fans, on low rpm's for low noise o course!), but it is one sweet looking case!
you mention the smallest space and still have room for full atx mobo, and i love the cubish outcome therefore! cheers!

by: vonEnochYou don't understand, my wood working skills are pathetic at best. I can change a transmission, or an engine in a car, but I tried makeing a subwoofer box once, it wasn't pretty or functional. My dad has definatly got the wood working skills.

i gave u a 10 cos it is actually a full self build case mod looks great m8 well done

:)....Ok. Maybe cars is your kind of handywork. So, maybe you fix your old mans car and he fixes a nice case to you? Good luck....
Thanks for the positive response all....
A unique concept, I like it alot.
very nice craftsmanship

Exactly! Anyway, I love the idea. 9/10
by: i_am_mustang_manHave no problems with heat! Have 2x120 mm in front bottom with filters that throw in air. All components are really cool.
thas nice!

Really original and really cool, not to my personal taste, but I gotta give you credit for the originality, nice work!
......Its a box. I cant imagine its very airflow friendly either. I'm not sure what to vote this I'm gonna have to think on it a bit.
It's very original...
strange how you dont specify if you mean that in the good or bad way :p
Originality is subjective so...
true, but you dont say how that subjective influences u :p
The line that separates madness from greatness is too thin to tell the difference...
Interesting way of putting it, but assuming your giving your answer in that, i'm gonna go with u like it?
I do gave it a ten to reward the originality ;)
Cool case. Nice equpiment. Very original. 8/10
ok after much thought im gonna go with a 7. its a nice mod, however heat buildup must be pretty bad.
I love the front plates/
Its going to stay nice and cool too.
IF thats two fans sucking in.
Very nice, could use a paint job but 10/10 anyways.
Hmm.... If you got a pro to make a wooden PC case, id reckon it'd have a lot of teak oil on it...
Did you lacquer/oil it? I give the case 9/10. It looks neat (not like other wooden PC cases) and its unique

haha thats great!
by: tkpenaltyI Have oiled it with Danish oil. The material i have used gets best result with that oil. (have tested alot of different oils and lacquer.

About heat. The case inside is VERY cool. Have 2x120mm throwing in air in the bottom (see pics.) and 1x140 + powersupply 120mm throwing out the warm air from rear. The in-air passes HDs (3xraptor) flows over the motherboard nicely and goes directly out from rear! So the this case has better airflow than most of my previous cases including (4 home built, a couple of antecs, acrylic, small formfactor some chieftechs etc. My previous case was a P160 with watercooling and one extra 120mm that i modded in that was good but this has lower temps.
thats very unique, well thought out
Its not really my style but i gave you a 9 for creativity and all the work you must have put into it.

Thnx. Yeah, you usually either hate or love wooden constructions :D
Mad props for the case and the hardware. Well done to you son.

LOL @ "more breathing", you honestly believe wood conducts heat better than metal?!?
To the original poster, why didn't you use MDF?
by: overcastI use it because it is light and its a good material to glue the curlybirch pieces on. Its more stable to tempchanges than massive wood.

I have this urge you pick it up with my gravity gun and smash it against the wall. 10/10
I voted 4/10 because:
I can see you put a lot of effort (and time) into the box.
But sorry, I think the net effect is dreadful. Just looks like an old junk box.
Your expensive veneering didn't pull off, neither did your attenmpt to "hide" the edges by using the metal and wood trims.
I would knock it down... consider it practice... and design a more aesthetic piece. I see you've got some serious woodworking tools in the background! You can do it!

you are retarded i would like to see you do any better dude 10/10
Dude, that's some serious hands-on kinda work. 9/10 for sure... yeah, particle board is easier to work with. Hardwood woulda been a 10/10!
looking at your wood crafting skills on the case i give you 10/10 nicely made.
have you tryed makeing one from metal looking at your work i think you could make a Hot case from
Metal ;)

i live in the u.k and some people over here mod cars 2 the max i.e alloy wheels sound systems and stuff one of the things they do is mod the interior in there cars
With sheets of carbon-fibre that can be picked up at the cars shops
One thinks your box would look sweet in carbon-fibre finish.

Definitely a 9 out of 10 from me.
I personally would have gone with a different veneer, or a darker stain, but it looks awesome!
