The GeForce 6800 GS was a performance graphics card by NVIDIA, launched in November 2005. Built on the 130 nm process, and based on the NV41 graphics processor, the card supports DirectX 9.0c. The NV41 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 225 mm² and 222 million transistors. It features 12 pixel shaders and 5 vertex shaders, 12 texture mapping units and 12 ROPs. Due to the lack of unified shaders you will not be able to run recent games at all (which require unified shader/DX10+ support). NVIDIA has placed 256 MB GDDR3 memory on the card, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 425 MHz, memory is running at 500 MHz.
We recommend the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS for gaming with highest details at resolutions up to, and including, 1024x768.
Being a single-slot card, its power draw is not exactly known. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 1x VGA, 1x S-Video. GeForce 6800 GS is connected to the rest of the system using a PCIe 1.0 x16 interface. Its price at launch was 249 US Dollars.
