ATI FireGL V8650
The FireGL V8650 was a high-end professional graphics card by ATI, launched in May 2007. Built on the 80 nm process, and based on the R600 graphics processor, in its R600 GL variant, the card supports DirectX 10.0. The R600 graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 420 mm² and 720 million transistors. It features 320 shading units, 16 texture mapping units and 16 ROPs. ATI has placed 2,048 MB GDDR4 memory on the card, which are connected using a 512-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 688 MHz, memory is running at 868 MHz.
We recommend the ATI FireGL V8650 for gaming with highest details at resolutions up to, and including, 1280x720.
Being a dual-slot card, the ATI FireGL V8650 draws power from 1x 6-pin + 1x 8-pin power connectors, with power draw not exactly known. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 1x DisplayPort, 1x S-Video. FireGL V8650 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCIe 1.0 x16 interface. The card measures 254 mm in length, and features a dual-slot cooling solution. Its price at launch was 2,799 US Dollars.
