Traditionally, a specialists in aluminum/copper fin 'ring' type CPU coolers, Zalman maintained a performance leadership till aluminum fin tower type CPU coolers took over as the better performing design. Zalman was forced to keep up with the trend, which it did with the introduction of its CNPS-10X series coolers, namely CNPS-10X Quiet, and CNPS-10X Extreme. The third one in the series, which Zalman recently made available to European stores, is the CNPS-10X Flex. This is basically a tower-type heatsink that uses a block of 56 aluminum fins (some of which are anodized black), to which heat is conveyed by five copper heat-pipes. While it does not include a fan of its own, it gives you the flexibility of using your own 120 mm fan, and allows for two fans in all. The retention module supplied supports all current CPU sockets, including LGA-1366, LGA-1156, LGA-775, and AM3/AM2+/AM2. Priced at €40, it is €10 cheaper than the CNPS-10X Quiet, enough price difference to allow you to buy a decent-quality 120 mm fan of your choice, be it performance-oriented, or quiet.

Anyway, this looks like a pretty decent cooler.
Its true. Zalman coolers used to be the best till tower type heatpipe coolers with alu fins started dominating the market.......then TRUE 120 came out and all hope was lost for Zalman in the enthusiast market :laugh:
until...the word is UNTIL...
In jamaica ppl still think Zalmann (CPU Coolers) are the shit ...
Just goes to show that innovation in the CPU cooling sector isn't dead!

by: AssimilatorTechnically, Corsair just rebranded (and slightly tweaked) an Asetek product. My biggest beef with said product is that they charge an additional $5 for AM3 mounting brackets. They said when it came out (months ago) that they would finalize the AM3 design and include it in retail packaging, but that still hasn't happened. :banghead:

I'd love to see zalman make a HDT CNPS 9900 though. That would probably have insane performance as whats holding zalman back has been the low heatpipe gauge and the fact that they use a super thick base between the pipes and core itself.
Innovation is dead? I beg to differ. They havent even started to use vapor chamber+heatpipes yet!
