Unfortunately I don't speak the language of the original source site so I'm not sure how reliable this is, but apparently someone has managed to get their hands on an ASUS 1GB 8800 GT. The picture is below, as is a table showing the specs. However, the specs aren't in English, so you'll have to guess what each column means I'm afraid, unless you know the language - fortunately most of them seem quite obvious.

Whoa?! Does the 256bit memory interface handle 1gb? If it does, this would be the upgrade from my GTS I've been looking for. Rather ugly though...

It seems as though the current 8800gt 512mb uses quimoda 1.0-1.1ns ramchips, which don't clock well. Hopefully the new 1gb models will use better ram.

I think this a fake, just going by the dodgy rendered box is enough to tell me its bull, at least get the proportions of the box correct:wtf:

lol yes, the left and right edges are not parrallel

not saying the card is fake, just the box, a basic 3d object that even an idiot with paint could create is flawed in quite a daft way

Forget the 1GB GT, it`s the new 1GB GTS that I am waiting for, but there are still no reviews of this card, so I have no idea how will it perform next to 512Mb GTS.

Does the 256bit memory interface handle 1gb?
Qimonda sells 1Gbit GDDR3 chips (part#: HYB18H1G321AF), so eight of these chips (= 256bit bus) equals a total of 1024MBs. Though, these chips are slower than those 1.0ns chips on 512MB boards as these are rated for 1.1ns (900MHz).

We know 512Mbit Qimonda GDDR3 OCs like crap, virtually every card with them maxes @ 1000MHz ± <5%. Down side is that 1Gbit stuff will most certainly OC worse compared to 512Mbit'ers...

I will be surprised to see 1gb models of theses g92 stepping anytime soon.. maybe after January.. but I think they want to clear out all the GTX's Ultras elc thats why I havent heard anything new on a 1gb g92 (gts) card in a couple months... they will Kill GTX/Ultra/GTS 640mb sales and will they be priced as high as a gtx/ultra? I doubt it.

512mb great for 1440 x XXXX, 19" widescreen and lower resolution.. @ 1680x1050 some games can demand more for maxing eye candy.. if you game at under 1680x1050.. the gt is the card to get along with ati's similar offerings.

EDIT: and damm that box is some crocked.

Its an Asus 8600GT TOP box and the card PCB colour immediately reminded me of Galaxy, the rear I/O plate looks straight from a galaxy 6600GT AGP card, the board itself looks like a Galaxy 7950GT. Seems like someone has had a photoshop joy fest.

Prove me wrong though.

Box being so bad makes it real, everyone gan make better fakes ;)

And that picture of the card is just from the OC 512MB TOP version, that is currently with stock cooler, but will be replaced with this.

edit: here's the news of it

And what do you know, same crooked box :p

it also says that in the soruce:

Asus made the card in co-work with Qimonda memory company. The cooler is code-named Glaciator.According to Asus the cooler cools 7 C better than reference nVidia coolers. Also with the software named SmartDoctor, users will be able to adjust GPU and Shader Clocks independently.

i must say i agree with the majority, complete bs, i only ever heard of the new G92 8800GTS coming out dec 11th having 1GB but the thought of it coming with 1GB memory was dismissed about 2-3 months ago and now only info on a 512MB version can be found, so i dout that the GT is goin to have a 1GB and seeing as thats the only link i've seen, which is from some random dude not an official site, i'm not goin to believe it. just some dude that was bored one nite and decided to have some fun

Dunno what discussion you've been participating but it's a fact that 1GB on a reference 8800GT (and GTS) has been known to be possible for as long as specs of 8800GT have been public.
