TG Daily has learned that the price of OCZ's Neural Impulse Actuator (NIA) will be well below the predicted $299 price tag. Ryan Petersen, co-founder and CEO of OCZ Technology confirmed that the suggested retail price of the NIA will be $159. "We want people to buy the thing, not to just look at it and think that they cannot afford it," he said. "We don't care about making money off it, we care about making people love it," Petersen also added. OCZ officially announced the Neural Impulse Actuator on March 3, 2008. Mass production of the mind-controlled gaming device is set so start soon after the already finished CeBIT 2008.

Imagine how much more lazy a NIA would make us

But yes, BUI will make for a much more efficient method of input, maybe as the technology shapes up, who knows, a page-full of text typed at the speed of a professional typist.

That's a good question...... so should we hook this up to a quality surge protector, or even better yet a power conditioner to make our thoughts more responsive? :wtf:

im pretty positive theres no physical contact with any conductive parts... so i dont think were gonna need 2 worry bout the whole bbq thing...

as for being scared... my guess is the character will go in random directions & probably shoot a few times.... rofl..... imaging playing F.E.A.R. with a massive sound system in a pitch black room with this thing..... is it possible to virtually shit your pants?

I.E. We don't care about making money off it, we care about controlling people's minds with it! :p

What ever happened to companies that thought this dearly of their customers?
I salute OCZ on this.

& at that price i can see them making a lot of money off it anyway!!! atleast there not like some other companies absolutely ripping everyone off something chronic *enter the birth of piracy*

OCZ's < $45 2000dpi LASER mouse pwned. Unfortunately it was very rare. Wish they also said "We want people from all over to be able to buy our things."

So how is this gonna work?
If i want to shoot someone do i have to think shoot or click? Or is it basically reading the brain so that it knows when to shoot.

This is probably a very stupid question, but does it work with most games (like just replacing a keyboard) or do programs have to be developed/modded for it? I am probably sold if this works with most games.

I'd really like to see a proper review of this thing before I shell out my cash. It's a very interesting device, and I'm extremely excited that we're one step closer towards controlling computers with our brains entirely without any physical contact (I hate typing on keyboards).

It actually reads face muscles. For example, the accelerator in a car could be set to your mouth being open, change gears with your eyebrows and closing your mouth suddenly is the handbrake.

You use the software to bind it to keystrokes - so you set certain actions to certain keys, and set those keys in game.

The only things you cant do with this is aim (need a mouse), look stylish (your face would look retarded rofl) and depending on your bindings, voice chat/talking COULD prove hard.

i know HOW it works, but i havent used one. It does use the muscles, and you can choose which ones - i dont know how MUCH you have to move them, but i was explained the examples i gave above by OCZ about the original prototype. If the new ones are more sensitive, htat will be a godsend.
by Firedomain (March 13th - 5:14 AM) - Reply
they look pretty sensitive... although the guy trying 2 talk 2 ppl seemed 2 have a problem getting it to notice he was wanting to move again... doesn't look like there were many side affects to him talking to the camera though.....
