Scythe today announced a new all-aluminum hard disk cooler called “Himuro”. The product name “Himuro” comes from the old time preservation storage for snow and ice. Hard disks are often neglected for cooling compared to other components inside the computer system, yet it is also important to cool the data storage to prolong its life. The flexible mounting system is built-in for this product to allow the user to mount the hard disk cooler in various ways (bezel hidden or exposed on 5.25inch bays). Compatible with either parallel or serial ATA 3.5inch hard disks up to 10,000rpm. Anti-vibration mounting legs are included to further contribute to silence!

Well I'd want one to shut up the bloody clicking HDDs make... The system is silent until I start torrenting/defragging.

Yeah wouldnt mind having one myself. However, with my case, I have a 120mm (12cm) fan blowing right across my lone HDD (for now its lone). Its right in the middle of the airflow so it gets good all around coverage.

Any chance of a review soon? I'm looking for something to silence my 3 hdds. Its amazing how much vibration noise drives make. Has anyone any recommendations?

Uhh usually when a HDD starts clicking that means its dieing lol... I might get one of these if there cheap. I'd rather fill up my 5'' drive bay because my 3.5's have fans :o

Yeah me neither, cant tell when last i put a fan on my HD, its a Samsung Spinpoint T1 F1, 3 platers so it runs extremely cool, boot it up just now and got 17c, 20-24c under load.

That's pretty hard to believe, unless your ambient is below 17C. The newer hdds do typically run cooler though, just the flow of newer and better tech.

70ºC (158ºF) seems a bit nasty room temp so I guess you meant 70ºF (21ºC).

Do the coolers even help performance that much? I've even heard of ppl putting heatsinks onto chips on the HDD circute boards... It seems a little extreme to me.

Ummm. Cooling a chip never increases performance.
