It appears that the ASUS Rampage II Extreme motherboard we spotted last week has been an early sample that was designed for testing only. Today pictures of the retail version, the one that customers will see from now on appeared. The retail version of Rampage II Extreme will ship with a whole new cooling system, well known from various other Republic of Gamers mainboards, but different from the one we posted earlier. Aside from the cooling changes, the motherboard will have the same features as we reported here. I can only add the SupremeFX 7.1 sound blaster and the ASUS LED poster to our previous information of extraordinary features.

WTF happened to the water block?! My money is waiting on this too, but is it REALLY that cool that it doesn't need water when it's highly OC'ed?

I love the fact they placed the fast buttons on the side next to the ram. It's a pain sometimes to use my on board reset button because of my PSU being at the bottom of the case...

Must resist,…buying,…..this,….board,….

Awwww, who the hell do I think I'm kidding? I don't know if I have the willpower to keep from buying this board. Then again the ASUS P6T Deluxe is looking good too.

No! Must,…..not,….buy,…..

All of you are aware that it doesn't follow standard ATX specs right?

I absolutely LOVE the passive cooling solution on this motherboard. Once again they show why they're one of the best third-party motherboard makers. Extremely awesome design, Asus!

I question whether or not that 16 phase is a true 16 phase. Other companies have a corresponding number of capacitors, and mosfets to the inductors, but I ALWAYS see ASUS having far more inductors, versus capacitors in the phases around the CPU socket.

Then again I may be wrong. 12 Phases is still excellent nonetheless...

Sigh ASUS is like the only company to construct proper NB cooling solutions on their high end boards, unlike Gigabyte...

Hopefully they actually used thermal paste over the NB and improved the memory capatibility over the original RE. Other than that, it sure does look nice and the buttons seem easier to get at.

You know what's funny? All of the x58 boards are powered by 8-pin ATX, not 4-pin. Guess I have to strip off my Dell PSU for this mobo.

My Case supports EATX, so there is no problem running this board.
