As a portion of the PC hardware industry gears up for the Nehalem November, with sources pointing at a Nov. 17 launch for the Core i7 processors by Intel, motherboard vendors are just about ready with their products. Gigabyte on its part, is ready with a complete range of motherboards based on the Intel X58 chipset.

The Gigabyte EX58-UD5 has been pictured by XFastest. This model forms the mid/high offering in its X58 range, with the Extreme variant holding the flag at the top. The board uses Gigabyte's newest Ultra Durable 3 PCB construction. In its range, the EX58-UD5 provides the same set of features the Extreme variant does, albeit the brute cooling system the Extreme sports. Gigabyte also made changes to its colour scheme, with memory slots getting rid of the melon-pink and green colours, deep blue for southbridge-routed SATA ports, white for external controller-routed ones, white also makes it to the lone IDE connector, FDD connector, and the PCI-E x1 slot. All in all, Gigabyte made sure the board doesn't look gaudy for buyers particular about its looks.

They did

Meh...looks kinda cool, but I do despise the placement of that integrated power button...if it's just a light and not a button, still shouldn't be located there imo.

Things are definately getting heated up, there's gonna be a few options for sure! :toast:

Using Gigabyte itself as standard, they didn't....at least it blends with Gigabyte's liking for the blue PCB.

They should really fix up the NB cooling; the heatpipes aren't really doing anything. R80 value inductors are nice tho, nice to see its a real 16 phase setup, unlike ASUS's boards which dont have a corresponding number of components (except inductors) around the phases.

Looks good, but i still dont plan to go Core i7.

I was planning to get i7 early because the onboard memory controller idea was giving me an erection but the Dollar in my country just dropped bigtime becasue of the economic crisis and it has added about 3 hundred to the price of CPU/MB/RAM.

But ye i hope these Giga boards are better than their X38/48 boards.

Looks like Gigabyte really did a good job with the NB cooling. That has been my only issue with them in the past, the NB runs way too hot. I don't really like the bland color scheme, I like my mobo to jump out at me.

whats going on :wtf: msi then foxconn now giga all dropping the fugly colour combos and going for more subtle tones?

not a bad thing by a long shot im just shocked that they have all at the same time, its about time like....but.....:wtf:

do you think they have started to listen to most reviewers saying the same shit about their paint factory explosion colour schemes??

i like the board but for those of us that use a sound card like me my creative soundblaster elite pro uses a PCI slot and in SLI mode i cant use my sound card with this board top Slot should be PCI

and i dont want to use the said onboard sond chip so i guess ill have to say with Gigabyte-GA-N680SLI-DQ6 for now

Until a few days ago everybody complained about GIGABYTE's colours. Now, when the colours are "smoother", everybody complains again! Come on, guys, make up your mind! This scheme is elegant!

About the power button, indeed is wrong placed. And near it is another button without the "cap" attached. Strange position...

still wait some minute's looking to this mobo

Finally, they droped the crayon-based colour theme. I realy like how the MB looks.
Although, i'm afraid i7 is a bit too much for my wallet..

Looks like a 12 phase setup to me.

That's a better colour scheme, but's still really horrible. Are they colour blind?

This is also horrible? Geez... Why is that? It is elegant. But from dislike to horrible is a loooong way...

Yes, every board should be red and black

Maybe the manufacturers should leave the boards and connectors white or transparent and put some paint in the box so everyone can paint it's own scheme...

That's a stupid comment. If every board was black and red, I'd want something else.

Therefore, this colour scheme. Choosing motherboards over merely colours is stupid anyway...it's like choosing your employees over the colour of their skin...but that's just me. We'll leave it at that.

This is actually one of the better looking motherboards I've seen from Gigabyte.

True, as long as it performs the way i want it, i am fine on the looks.

But i still would never pick a mobo that was all pink with the slots on it purple or something, i hate those colors.

I like the colors on my 680i board(black PCB with blue and black RAM and PCI-E slots) looks very good IMO.
