AMD, on the brink of making a start with its first desktop CPUs made on the 45nm manufacturing process, seems to have updated time-frames in which it will introduce new CPUs and manage inventories of currently available CPUs. Data compiled by DigiTimes from sources in the motherboard manufacturing industry points towards the following in 2009:
- The introduction of four new SKUs in the months of April, that include Athlon X4 (Propus core) 615 and 605, Athlon X3 (Rana core) 420 and 410, followed by Athlon X2 (Regor core) 240 and 235 in June
- Last orders for Phenom X4 9850 and 9950 (140W) to be taken in March, Phenom X4 9750, 9850 (95W) and 9950 (125W) will be in June, before which Phenom II X4 920 and 940 in May (in most likelihood replaced by models 925 and 945)
- Phase-out of Phenom X3 8450 and 8550 started, that of Phenom X3 8650 in March followed by Phenom X3 8850 and 8750 in June
- Last order notice for Athlon X2 4450e to be issued in March

At least the 940 will have a good run before it gets replaced by the 945. DDR3 is gonna be awesome with AMD processors. But if this will happen soon, I might as well just roll with the 920 instead if the perfomance gap between the two are a bit small.

No..only 125W 9850's. The earl 9950 was the only 140W beast which was later replaced by the 125W versions.

AM3 is the DDR2/DDR3 Upgrade, only thing, you will be able to use a AM3 CPU in AM2+, ex, goin from a 9950 to a AM3 Part, then you decide you want DDR3, just get a board, now those who arent switching can go with AM2+, but im sure AM2+ will start being phased out.
Is it just me or are the sku's getting harder and harder to follow for these companies (intel, amd, nvidia)
I cant wait. I think Im gonna get the Kuma 7750 cpu at Newegg. Someone else on here got it and I think its a good clocker. That should hold me until the P2. I got some money itching to spend a burning hole in my pocket (yeah it makes sense to me :p)

is it just me or is this a rather short life span compaired to the 9850/9950 ?

There's no reason to be rude. You have power measurements next to some chips and no power measurements next to others -- you can insult me for assuming if you want to, but you know what they say about that.
The TDP ratings are next to only those chips that have variants based on the TDP, and that's very much understandable since nobody else got that question with the way in which it was written.
